This is spot on, couldn't have put it better myself. Watching the Amazon documentary, all I see the focus on half time is cutting out mistakes, defensive pressure, concentration, don't concede etc etc. This is all important stuff but our real issue is we have no clear idea how to attack and create chances. Yes I know in the doc they most likely edited some of that stuff out but judging by our performances even games we won the plan either isn't working or doesn't really exist.

It seems that if one of the front 3 don't create a moment of magic we won't really trouble any half decent team. Jose doesn't like to take risks in midfield, preferring safe options over creative ones, but this is really the source of our problems and has been since under Poch. To think we started the CL final with Winks and Sissoko as our double pivot says it all. Good guys I'm sure, but bench players at best for any team looking to get somewhere.

Thanks mate glad you agree. And you’re spot on as well.

Im starting to think Jose is a good defensive coach and a reasonable motivator but he’s been successful before because at every club he’s had a creative CM and attacking players who can win games themselves without too much tactical advice other than a general shape and deadly attacking in transitions and counter attacks.

Porto: tons of creative and top class attacking talents
Chelsea 1: Lampard, Duff, Robben, Drogba all verging on it were world class and of course he had makelele and a top class back 4 : Cech, P.Fereria, Terry, CArvalliho, Del Horono/A.Cole

Inter : Eto’o, Sneijder, Milito, Pandev and a hell of a back 4 : Cesar, Maicon, Lucio, Samuel, Chivu

Madrid: World class players back to front

Chelsea 2: Courtious, Ivanovic, Terry, Cahill, Azpi and then attacking talents of : cesc, hazard, Oscar, Willian and Costa

so to be if you compare us now to all of those teams is abundantly clear our defence isn’t good enough to keep us solid enough and we don’t have enough quality going forwards.

Lloris - fine

DOHerty - fine
Toby - fineish but starting to lose it
Dier - NEEDS UPGRADING OR HAS TO IMPROVE MASSIVELY OR PLAY SANCHEZ
Davies - NEEDS UPGRADING

PEH - fine
Ndombele / lo celso - fine but need them fit

Lucas - MASSIVELY NEEDS UPGRADING
Dele - needs to find his form but having a creative CM and a better RM would really help. Or play lo celso as a n.o 10
Son - fine

Kane - fine

so we are not too far off the quality we need and funnily enough if we sign regullion & bale then our first XI is basically at the level Jose needs it. Then a CB would be a bonus and of course we need another striker but without this level of quality we will look toothless at times playing joseball.

Totally agree. And I am still not sure these signings (assuming they happen) will resolve the basic issues, but at least should make it lot more fun to watch.
Assuming the 2 wing backs, Bale, Son and Kane all play, that means either 3 at the back and getting totally overrun in the middle of the park whatever pair we play, or 2 at back and leave massive gaps behind the full backs to be easily exploited, especially on Doherty's side (haven't seen enough of Reguilon to comment if he is a prime Rose and Walker type of athlete to keep going up and down field all day or not) and if the 2 are Dier and Toby that is no pace either

Once again it's not the tactics at fault but the limited players and player form that is hindering us, and the fault for that lies directly with the board for not reinvesting in the squad when the likes of Dembele and Eriksen were on the way out.

One of the reasons for why I wanted Pochettino to leave, was that he seemed completely unable to change his tactics in an effective way, when Dembele lost his step. It looked like he was completely out of ideas for that midfield, especially during the 18/19 season and beyond (except for that diamond). Now, I really respect managers and coaches, who strongly believe in their own way of playing, and work towards that (with Mourinho I just don't like the way he wants us to play). But, at the same time, you have to be flexible. If you don't have Dembele you cannot play like you have Dembele. If your players are limited, you cannot play likr your players aren't limited.

Blaming the players for not doing a job they're not equiped to do, is for me at least, somewhat strange.

His tactics may not be favoured by many (yet), but there is not a slightest doubt the draw and mojo he still has, can charm players to wanna play for him, and even got one of the shrewdest chairman in football clubs backing him up that much with such intent.

Love him or hate him, the quality of player we are seemingly bringing in next is because of Jose.

If Mourinho gets Bale, Reguilon and a target man (Vini, Wout, Dost) then there really isn't anywhere to hide. I just hope we become better to watch in the lesser games, no problem with counter-attacking in the bigger games but we need to develop an answer against the more defensive teams.

All 3 signings would give us an additional tool to that effect:

Reguilon - Proper wide outlet on the left (Jose doesn't trust Sess yet), good chance creation stats
Target Man - Aerial threat in the box, potential knock downs for Kane to thrive off.
Bale - Long shots and set pieces

Hopefully Mourinho can capitalise on the lift these signings would surely bring if they come off and take us forward.

Bale headers too.

Need a midfield playmaker too

i dislike mourinho as much as anyone.. but ben davies taking a shot back after mourinho said they played lazy was bs.. after that cross he hit that almost turned into a goal i wouldn't be speaking if i was him.. good thing i ain't the manager he would be on the first bus out of tottenham with a open transfer window after his comments haha.

I think the opposite. Mourinho likes to be challenged by his players. I don't think Davies speaking his mind will count against him. (Yes I'm aware we are about to sign another left back! :ROFLMAO:).

Ben Davies: "We all tried our best"
Jose Mourinho: *signs Reguilon*

His press conference for the game must be later today. Will be interesting to see how tight lipped he is about transfers.

There's plenty, an absolute shitload of threads in the Transfer Forum for talking about Transfers. Especially the Bale one which is approaching 300 pages at a speed previously unheard of.

So please don't get this one locked when there's a long established venue for all of it elsewhere. Cheers.

what about the naughty kids that don’t have access to that particular section of the site?

would a donation to SC restore ones access along with a promise never to be naughty and step out of line again?
