Can we just not play Kane until he is fit?

We were doing preparation in pre-season without Kane. The players who had a pre-season were drilled in tactics and team play .

Kane had no preseason. So playing him might have disrupted the cohesion builtup in pre-season

Kane is also unfit and if we play him risk of injury is high

Played 180 mins for England last week which was effectively his pre season, he always starts slow at the beginning of the season anyway.

If anything I think Jose is going to finally sort us out. After watching the Amazon documentary he seems to be fully aware of the problems we have and calls players out for it. If the players get upset with him and he starts to lose players in the changing room then get rid of them as they are part of the problem.

The Poch years were fantastic and he deserves great credit for what he achieved but it also coincided with all the big clubs going through a weird transition whilst we hit peak form and we still finished behind bloody Leicester! Everytime we got to a game that really mattered, we blew it.

Our peak form has gone, most of our best players from that time have left or lost form and we are now in a transitional period ourselves. Jose needs to build the mentality from the ground up and it’s going to take time. Let’s build some winners and then the pretty football will follow I’m sure.

Yes José is totally the man for a long term project

Looking at the documentary he desperately needs a captain playing in centre midfield. He shouldn’t be demanding the players perform. They should be doing it themselves.

This bunch don’t seem to thrive under pressure which is worrying for Mourinho’s future because pressure is what he’s using.

We needed a painful rebuild - but Mourinho has to get a tune out of players that needed replacing in the rebuild ...

Some of you need to get your arguments straight.

I thought he got his substitutions wrong. In no way can bringing in Sissoko when he did be the right call, the game was 50/50. We were lacking a link between defence and attack so he takes off Dele and brings on Sissoko who is never going to do that. To rectify it on goes Bergwijn, the problem is he can’t link defence and attack.

I thought the players looked like they lacked a preseason, which they did, and just didn’t want to win it. We need a lift like they have had with James

Since Jose came I’ve been fairly balanced, criticised when he’s deserved it and praised equally, I believed Poch had come to the end but unlike others blamed Levy for the downfall and didn’t believe that someone new coming in would automatically give us this lift that some thought it might.

However, I can’t remember anything in recent times that has left me open mouthed, some 36 hours after a match, almost paralysed with horror, than that substitution of Dele for Sissoko. Nothing comes close.

He's perfectly fit and is no more prone to injury than at any other time. You get fit in the gym. He may lack a bit of match sharpness/tactical understanding, that isn't the same thing.

Agree. I think it’s by far the biggest in game screw up I’ve seen from here. Even if Dele off was the right call (I didn’t think he deserved to be hooked) there were 4 options on the bench who were preferable to Sissoko.

This is a really good article in the athletic which may go to explain Mourinhos words.

There is some good news from the game on Sunday. We pressed more than any other team at the weekend. The bad news is, the wrong pressing was done. Now, that isn’t a real problem. More time on the training ground and more games can hone it and get it better. But maybe the really good news is that the players are listening to the coaches asking them to actually close down the opposition. Something we were crying out for last season and so were the management but the players just weren’t doing it. Ignore that shit stirrer John Cross in the Mirror and his article about upsetting the players, we all know he’s just doing it because he is a gooner.

I can’t copy it over for some reason but here is the link. Maybe someone else could post it because it is worth a read.

Was Spurs’ pressure lazy? Yes, but that’s not their pressing problem – this is

Why insult not only your fellow fans, but people who post in good faith on here, just like you do? Let's just discuss instead.

You're a better poster than that.

Totally agree with this BBLG has gone sour and arrogant of late . He was good for years but now sees SC as his own property snarling at anyone who disagrees with him . YUK

Having watched “All or Nothing” it’s pretty clear Levy would have been blown away by Jose telling him he’d just barbecued his dog. Weird and creepy obsession.

Watching Levy with Jose in all or nothing is so awkward makes your skin crawl some of the time! Its like some love struck school girl meeting her first love for the first time!

His demeanour this week is going to be interesting. I think the full time return of grouchy unfriendly jose is just around the corner..

Sunday and all the criticism must have hurt.

Fully agreed with you, in my opinion it's larger than most would have thought even Mourinho. There is just something that smells like shit in that dressing room, the attitude is not anywhere were it should be. I would start up top and sell Kane, some might disagree but hey we need some cash and he is turning 28. Trust in a manager to do the rebuild whomever that person is.

I agree.

Id like to see a younger coach brought in and I would sell harry to pay for the rebuild. Liverpool have done it so if done correctly it can work.

Not sure I want hitchen and levy choosing the new players though!

Yeah, I don't know if Mourinho underestimated the task, or whether it was bad but got worse after he had taken over, but there is clearly a need to turn the squad over from top to bottom (Poch's painful rebuild)

I'll also say that Mourinho isn't absolved of any criticism here, but, and I have said this a lot, we're now faced with two managers/coaches of varying high qualities yet getting similar results out of the same squad of players - I'm not an expert but I'd feel there is a correlation there as to why we're struggling so badly on the football pitch.

Wholeheartedly agree on all points.
