Aurier has been better with Moura in a more fixed position in front of him and greater time spent defending
Fair enough mate. You have completely ignored the part where we have won nothing in recent years though.
Yes it's hypothetical, but it's based on us improving since he took over from Poch. We where in a ridiculous slide which somehow he's managed to fix.
Probably fair that most clubs aren't in a great spot during a manager change... but. What mess exactly?
Did he leave Inter with a mess?
Did he leave Chelsea in a mess? Even though they went on to win the league the following season (and implode again the year after under Conte)
Did he leave Madrid in a mess? Or did they win the CL the following season.
He doesn't leave clubs "in a mess" his position just becomes untenable either because he falls out with the board or some players stop playing for him.
He lost the players in his last three jobs but the board still liked him (United excluded). None of those clubs had a mess in their squad.
He left Inter because he achieved everything and he helped create a real family atmosphere between every one in the club. I've heard that first hand from one of his ex-players.
He left Chelsea first time because Abramovich was imposing himself and telling Jose how to play, to which Jose had enough.
When things go sour with him at the club, we'll move on quickly and I'm sure the squad will be fine.
Finally, you want to know what a mess is?
The one Jose inherited. A team who hadn't won away since January, a team who were in relegation form, a squad of players who were on their feet from the years of high intensity pressing and same old training methods, players who'd been replaced by inferior options and a complete lack of morale.
That's not a bash at Poch. It's to prove that all teams are left in a 'bad' condition when a coach leaves.
To be fair to Aurier I think he has been quite solid since the restart.
Crossing from wide areas not withstanding.
A tepid hand job?Jose was reputedly on a £2 mill bonus to get us CL football. Dunno how much the EL would get him ?
Sounds like you're making excuses for him before the season starts. In an ideal world, Jose would be only utilising Lloris, Alderweireld, Dier, Sanchez, Davies, Winks, Lo Celso, Ndombele, Son, Lucas, Bergwijn & Kane from our current squad crop...12 out of our 25 man squad I think have shown enough to warrant starting or squad places.
If anyone thinks one summer will alter how we perform drastically they honestly have another thing coming. 4 in this summer, 4 in next and we’ll start to see a Mourinho looking Sours take shape but until then, it’s growing pains whilst steadying the ship for immediate reasons.
We will get there under Jose, but please do back the guy and the players if we don’t look close to the finished article come the beginning of the season. People have to understand that this isn’t his squad of players, he’s piecing things together and did a damn sight better results wise in doing so than Poch did. Give him time to replace 50% of the guys not able to hit the notes for us with fresh blood and don’t throw a strop if inevitably it takes a while before we start to see the new era we’ll and truly kicking in. Well done to Jose, Europe whilst patching things up from top to bottom is a very sound return.

3 more seasons of this entertainment.
Klopp took 3 seasons and Pep needed a full season and about £400million to get his squad where he wanted. We're not a relegation threatened team that just needs a manager to bounce back. There's getting a tune out of the players but then there's competing for top 4. We were in a CL final 13 months ago and some seem to blame Jose for where we're at now. The guy to blame is Poch.Other managers have "got a tune" out of far worse squads than us without being given 4 transfer windows to do so. As long as we're winning, I don't care - but there's no legitimate excuse for our performances to not significantly improve next season.

Klopp took them to two finals in his first season, and their squad when he joined them was nowhere near the quality of ours under Jose. I'm fully aware there's some deadwood, and players that Jose doesn't want - but people are talking about our squad like it's Crystal Palace's or something.
I fully expect us to be up there next season, and challenging for trophies, and I'm sure Jose does too - because he doesn't have a loser mentality, going into seasons with excuses ready.

Food for thought. Reading that in sequence, I believe there could not be any actual, objective arguments for not backing Mourinho at the least through the year.A continuation of our Poch form would have put us in a relegation battle.
A continuation of our Jose form would have put us 3rd.
And yet some people still pretend they can't see any progress. Mind-numbing cognitive dissonance.
We finished exactly where I currently put our performances at for the season and that's 6th. We got what we deserved and I hope we make a real go of the Europa League. It will be a great competition for Jose to give game time to the likes of Sessegnon and Gedson. I expect us in the first half of the season to rotate heavily for EL and fully go for the Carabao cup and Premier League. Hopefully a few signings this summer will help add squad depth that is quality and not just making up the numbers.
It is simply undeniable that our results in the league have improved considerably since Mourinho took over.
Whether one thinks the nature of our performances have improved is more subjective. Personally I feel as if we had stopped being enjoyable to watch a good 9 or 10 months before Mourinho took charge
Next season, carabao cup will start before the start of the season. Also teams who are in europe, can field their u23 teams in carabao cup according to EFL.
