Liverpool 5-1 in front of 60,000 Spurs fans , being 3-0 up against Real under champions league floodlights, smashing Inter, Ajax comeback > beating Leicester in Worthington cup final i cant even remember.
They're all great moments but why does enjoying those moments and wanting to win trophies have to be mutually exclusive?

Youre just a fan mate, you dont get glory if Kane scored a winning cup final goal he does. You get bragging rights for a week or two because you like a team that won a cup.

The game is about entertainment.
It's about being remembered.
No one remembers who won CL semi final second legs.
No one remembers who played the prettiest football.
Winners get remembered.

Playing pretty football and having nothing to show for it is like getting your end away without blowing your load.
Its all fur coat and no knickers.

Is that what Liverpool did? Oh no they got to the champions league final then won it the next season along with the league ??‍♂️

That’s why you want top 4 to allow you steady progress to allow you to attract the best players which eventually leads to you winning the real trophies
Ultimately though, Levy seems to have decided that it's time to start winning trophies otherwise he'd have just gone for another project manager.

F**k the bragging rights. I have watched highlights of our FA cup 91 win and our UEFA cup 84 win many times over the years. I just love the fact that we won those trophies.

I’ve watched the bt unfiltered highlights probably 2-3 times a week since that game. And every time I listen to a podcast and they use the “and here’s Lucas moraaaaa” it give me goose bumps. Easily trumps beating Leicester and easily the best moment I’ve had as a spurs fan. And we didn’t win a trophy

Wigan won the FA cup not so long ago, as did Portsmouth and where are they now?

The only trophies worth winning are the league and the champions league.

Jose won’t win those so why settle for the negative football?

We’ve won two league cups in nigh on 30 years and apparently the only things worth winning are the league or champions league? Madness mate, madness.

Who the fuck are we to say we’re above any other trophy bar them two? I’d love to win the league cup, FA Cup or Europa League. Absolutely love it.

I understand that one night in the sun is amazing. My point is though that it’s not worth putting up with a negative, boring, pragmatic, fall asleep football all season just to win and FA cup.
Yeah, I agree with that but I'm still hopeful that the boring football isn't going to last.
It's just a means to an end at the moment.

We got to a champions league final. heavily involved 2 title races, a league cup final and a FA cup semi (maybe 2?), and over the period of a calendar year had the best, highest scoring team in the country -- all in the era of a the mega spending oil clubs.

If people are really complaining about that period for a club that hasnt won a major trophy for 30 years or the league for 50/60 and had qualified for the CL once before then they are in for a life of disappointment.

It died a sad pathetic death at the end, but fuck me, if you are complaining about that period as a Spurs fan I suggest you give up football now because we aint overhauling Liverpool, City and co anytime in our lives.

In short, wouldnt swap for Joses Europa success in that period.

Ii am definitely not complaining so not sure where you got that from.

I was responding to the previous post and highlighting that Poch stopped doing a long time ago and the league form was abysmal so it was right time for him to go.

To be honest, I can't actually remember much of that final either but that's because I was very drunk and spent much of the 90's and 2000's off my tits in various ways!
I vaguely recall enjoying the final very much though, it's just a little... hazy.

This talk of style of football is nonsense. Jose's Chelsea team of robben, duff, Drogba etc was pretty good to watch, his inter team was decent also, even his United team that finished second played some good stuff. His teams are built on a solid spine, hes been unlucky with kane and the fact levy hasn't brought in a second striker, fact is he is working with 2 championship quality full backs, zero defensive midfielder with winks being 1st choice in that role whereas we know in the past he likes players like makalele or even a peak magic. I keep saying it but he simply hasn't got the players here currently. We need 5 players, 2 full backs, a defensive midfielder, a centre half, and a back up striker of sufficient quality. If levy delivers this then you can judge properly

Being remembered by who, who is 'no one'? I only care about what I remember and what I enjoyed. And I fucking loved it, trophy or not. Who else matters?

Sounds like you live your life obsessed by other peoples opinions. Its a bit of an inferior mindset to be honest.

Unfortunately for you players like Kane aren't going to be happy telling their Gran kids about the time we almost won the CL, he wants to win and more importantly he wants to win with us before he fucks off and wins with another team, I'm sure you wouldn't want that and I'm pretty sure he doesn't but he's thinking about it. I suspect that will be the case for the majority of our players, they've had enough being also rans and bridesmaids and are at a point now where we need to hoover up some trophies. You may not like it but it's imperative that the club now put winning as a priority hence the appointment of Mourinho.

To be fair bro you do seem really worried about what other fans think. It’s like you’re ant to win something just so you’ve got something to back at them with.

Do you think any of the champions league squad would swap that champions league run for a league cup trophy? Genuine question as I don’t think they would

TBH, you sound like you're trying to convince yourself that winning stuff doesn't matter.

An inferior mindset for wanting my club to win things ? :ROFLMAO:
Brilliant.

Exactly. I don’t give a flying fuck about what anyone else thinks. My in laws are Palace mad and they loved their Zenith Data win every bit as much and more actually, than any Liverpool fan I know when they beat us in June.

imagine finding the only enjoyment in football being the bragging about trophies to Baz, Gaz and Waz down the pub and choosing to support Spurs.

thats some funny shit.

And no-one can say that you're wrong (and to be fair in tempering your expectations you are probably less likely to be disappointed) but for me, I believe in a team being in a competition with the intention of winning trophies.
