He would have gone with best wishes from most of us if not for the fact that he played as though his heart wasn’t in it for the last year. His heart wasn’t in it, but don’t play that way. Other than that he was a fantastic player for years and when he was on the top of his game so were the rest of the team. Actually he was one of the best in the league for assists from indirect free kicks. Corners were the issue but a lot of that was due to his instructions (flat delivery to the near post). Of course at some point they should probably (he or the coaching staff) have considered changing things up, as it really wasn't working. All I'm saying the perception of him being a dead ball specialist is far from a myth.
