I can believe Barca and Madrid were not in for him. In Madrid he simply doesn't fit the system and Barca are actually well stocked in that area. The only option for either club is to try and play him a little deeper. But there is no evidence that he is all that special there. The reality is that Eriksen is on the second tier of football players. He would be useful for big big teams but not really improve them. His form in the last year only increased the doubts and pretty much confirmed that Eriksen just wasn't really worth it.
