I find it really strange that O'Neill appears to be giving up a huge chance at reaching Euro 2020 (NI will probably be favourites in their March playoff) to go manage a crisis club that are in such a rut. There's a chasm in the dressing room between the players who were relegated from the PL who are on big wages and playing awfully, and the newcomers who are on lower wages but at least appear to be trying.Stoke City are set to appoint Northern Ireland manager Michael O'Neill.
Can't see this being a good decision for either party. The rot has already set in at Stoke and it ain't going away for a while. Chris Coleman to Sunderland springs to mind.
I do not see that ending well. It won't end well before the likes of Allen and Butland are offloaded and free up the wages to strengthen the whole squad.
