I’d read the interviews and comments surrounding Mourinho, and how he had taken time to reflect on what had gone wrong at Utd. Also how he had decided to change his backroom staff to provide fresh insight.
Well, his appointment has been followed by the announcement of a new assistant and goalkeeping coach. There seems a lot of talk surrounding Campos too, which makes sense from a structure point of view.
Worth noting that the official announcement
We can now confirm the appointments of Joao Sacramento, Carlos Lalin, Nuno Santos, Ricardo Formosinho and Giovanni Cerra as part of new Head Coach Jose Mourinho’s coaching staff.
Suggests there may yet be further additions. May be Campo, may be additional coaches.
I will say I find it hard to believe this all happened overnight, that’s a lot of moving parts to manage in such a short time, but at least Levy has been proactive.
I always found Mourinho to be too arrogant for my liking, but from the recent pundit work I’ve seen, and the (albeit majorly scripted) interview, he comes across far more humble and considered in his comments than previously. Maybe he has been stung into some serious self reflection, but so long as his tactical sharpness is still on track, then we may be heading back on the front foot.
The interview was a little corny, too many ‘Us’, and ‘Our’ to be believed, but he does look re-energised and very focussed. He seems to have a clarity and intensity about the way he talks, like he knows what he’s inherited, and what he needs to do to prove he isn’t a spent force. He is a winner, and being seen as mediocre clearly doesn’t sit well with him.
The training video also may have been somewhat planned and edited to show a happy bunch, but it still provides a bit of feel good factor after the loss of one of the most popular managers in recent Spurs history. Structure to what’s going on, with some tactile moments showing some bonds being built. If Jose can restore Dier and Alli to their form of 18 months ago, that is a good start.

Watching the Video of Mourinho’s taking apart of the best team that ever lived on YouTube being Barca c2011. It’s something to behold. He fucked Guardiola that year. It’s shit housing of the highest order. We need shit housing. I’m past we tried. So are most of the players if rumours are to be believed.

He really did stroke Dier quite affectionately - its quite disconcerting #JOKE

Dele will be Lampard mk2

It's a culture thing, the Portuguese/Spanish are more hands on, but as you said it's meant to be a sign of affection nothing sinister, like they greet people with kisses on both sides of the cheek, in the UK guys don't do that, but in other parts of Europe it's normal.

What excites me about Mourinho is that he's in contact with top names in football. I don't see him picking any random guy to be part of his team. Could be really juicy.

Well, it didn't happen over night did it? It appears that way, but really that's just in appearance. There are many weeks already since Mourinho and some who now are his staff watch Tottenham at home in PL.

It was and honest post that is true. It was not directed to you, as I don't think you post crap. At least not all the time.
But you must agree, I'm sure, that on SC in general for weeks there has been so much idiocy posted about Mourinho and why he wouldn't come to Tottenham. So now, when people claim to know that his football moving forward will be shit, I call bullshit.
And everybody knows that I post what I think, I don't post to be popular.
I don’t think that is a fair characterisation. People have given reasons why they dont want Mourinho not why he won’t join. The fact he plays stodgy football is not something new people have just come up with, as you intimated. It was a key objection to him becoming our manager. There were lots of objections and they are still valid.

Nobody knows anything about the future as a fact but you assess the evidence in the past and form a judgement. That’s not a great picture.

But he’s said all the right things and I hope he’s a massive success

Levy and Zahavi have been negotiating since Watford apparently.

We’ll get a huge chunk of the compensation back when Poch takes another job, and it’s hardly as though cash flow is lacking. We’re one of the ten richest clubs in world football and the stadium revenue is paying for the stadium debt by itself, we can very well afford a fucking DM and RB.

You know what I mean. If it was Eddie Howe, some in the squad wouldn't know who he was, and he'd have to work much harder to earn their respect.
I do know what you mean and then I realised that the idea of him actually introducing himself is rather funny. Like, how do you do it in that situation of everybody obviously having a decade long impression of you.

Saw a post on Twitter I think, that suggested this had been in motion for a significant amount of time, and that Mourinho has been watching Lille with Campos to get to know his new staff.

True. Probably still easier than if you're Eddie Howe. He'd probably actually need to tell them his name.

If - and I accept it is a big if - you are going to back a manager with your money, would you back a serial winner or a nice guy who's won nothing? Jose didn't have loads of money to spend at Porto, but he won stuff anyway, proving he has what it takes as a coach. Poch has been a manager / coach for 10 years and won nothing, in a results based business, there's no room for sentiment and that's the harsh reality of why we now have Jose Mourinho in charge of our great club.

We can argue about the details, I don't know it that's very productive.
If it's more to your liking, I'll rephrase.
Please shut the fuck up about how bad Mourinho's football will be at Tottenham until you actually see for yourself what it will be like.
Better? Now bring it in so we can hug it out.

"Almost impossible task, off course. But I think Mourinho is the man who can manage to do it. My prediction: Mourinho will be the first human being in the history who manages to getting into a conflict with Heung-Min Son." ?
