Sky were or BBC (can't remember which one) said there wasn't much between the teams but like those Palace fans said I don't think they really got properly started in the match and I thought we were the better team without a doubt.

Even with their two big chances, the second one was incredibly dangerous and had it not been for an incredible save was a goal but Cabaye's was just a fantastic effort, I don't even think it was like we presented them with a great chance there, a good chance certainly yes. Fuck knows how Cabaye found the far post so cleanly from that angle. It was one of those efforts that whilst it was travelling I was never really worried, much like Rodwell's last week when he hit the top of the crossbar for Sunderland, I never felt worried whilst the ball was travelling. Was shitting myself when Sakho struck his shot.

Dier has done so well that he is nailed on starter for us in all main games. Its a toss between Mason, Alli & Bentaleb for 2nd CM. While Mason has had a great few games at CM, Alli is making it all the more difficult for him. At this rate, Bentaleb will be a forgotten entity by Christmas.

Competition is good, hopefully these 4 can carry us through the season without any injuries.

It's funny how everyone was so adamant that we needed to buy a DMF and look at us now.

Actually it shows how good an eye Pochettino has on his player's abilities & strengths. He has basically identified Dier strengths and has coached him to be a good DM - right from preseason. Credit completely goes to Poch & coaching staffs & ofcourse Dier himself.

At the risk of being really unpopular, I thought we were our ususl dull, unimaginative selves and if the game had finished nil nil it would have been a fair result. I was at the game so may have missed something?

I think we were good up until the palace 18 yard line. We still suffer from a lack of movement, and failed to my the most of our good posititions we worked (Chadli being the main culprit) trying to run through defenders .
But Erik Lamela started well, and worked hard, same as Alli. Dier I thought was excellent, as was Jan. Walker actually defended well.
You could see Kane got an instant lift when Eriksen came on, (those two have a good understanding) and Son is still full of enthusiasm that you expect to see from a new signing.

Judging on what we've seen today (which tbf is only one game) I think Bentaleb is still a better option in CM than Alli.
Just my onions, but I would guess Bentaleb is really Dier's back up as the more defensive of the pair, and Alli and Mason will rotate as the more attacking-minded of the CM partnership.

It seems awfully rash to write off Bentaleb based on just a handful of games. Sure he's had a few bad games, but during the course of the season, so will Dier, Mason and Alli.

Alli's played ONE game for us in CM and now he's ahead of Bentaleb according to some people...

Walker still lets every single cross come in from his side. It's atrocious how he never stops one cross. For Davies' limitations as a player, at least he is capable of preventing the odd cross coming in.

I too can say things that are blatantly not true…….

Daniel Levy is very tall with a lush, thick and healthy head of hair.

There :p

Alli will need a break throughout the season . He's 19 and will go off form. The four of Dier, Bentaleb , Mason and Alli will all be needed over the season. I think when it settles down towards Christmas we will see a front a front six of Dier, Bentaleb, Lamela Son , Eriksen, Kane.
When you have the option of changing it to Mason, Dembele, Alli, Pritichard, Chadli, Njie you can see we're in a pretty healthy state. That's not even including Townsend, Winks, Onomah.

I was really frustrated with both Lamela and Chadli's inability to try the quick, simple ball into the box. They both cut inside, held up the ball then most of the time either lost it or passed into a crowd. Infuriatingly the one time Lamela took an early shot from the corner of the box (that was blocked) he had a couple of free players (Alli) on the 'D' ready to pull the trigger.

Eriksen had very little time on the pitch but he made incredibly quick passes one of which was part of the move that we scored from. Alli was also quite incisive when it came to quick passing.

Saying that, Lamela really has a great first touch, great close control and really gets stuck in to the tackles, winning the ball back a number of times for us.

I have to wonder, given both Chadli and Lamela do the same thing over and over again if basically that's what Pochettino has coached them to do.

Yup, he can (fairly well), although then you have to shunt Eriksen out left. If we were trying maximise our squad, we would put Dier in the back three, let Rose and Walker bomb forward, keep Mason and Bentaleb (?) at the base of a midfield 3 with Lamela slightly ahead, and let Eriksen float around behind Kane. We don't have any (very good) natural wingers, but we do have Lamela and Eriksen, who both should be accommodated in their strongest possible positions: 532 ticks all the boxes.

Hodd...

That you?
