I would take McCarthy in a heartbeat over Livermore and to a lesser extent Parker.

However I wonder how much game time he would get when Sandro, Paulinho and Dembele are all fit.

Good for squad rotation though

Not to mention Holtby and even Carroll.

you can only get 5/4 on sky bet for McCarthy to join us

I wonder why such poor odds as there has been no hint of this that I have seen

Surprised about Anderson and McCarthy rumours... Even wih Hudd and Parker going I feel we have enough players?

If McCarthy bid did accept we can pretty much say that we are going for 4-3-3 with different qualities of midfielders all around....... Sandro being the destroyer, paulinho/McCarthy the all rounder and perfect box to box, dembele the runner/energy-maker , caroll / holtby - passer/creative hub , siggurdsson - advanced cm /left winger ... Versatile midfield options i must say..

ps : WE NEED A STRIKER !!

being irish iv seen mccarthy a fair bit.

very good player in my opinion, will challenge for a starting position if we get him in

Good - Competition is exactly what we need - if he is happy to come and work his arse off to get into the team then i am all for it. We are building a squad and we need players like this who are happy to come in and be a part of it.

If we don't sign a pacey wide player now we have bid for another CM I'll give up. Seriously our performances last season when we didn't have either Lennon or Bale were awful. Surely we know this? Please

Post then have it verified? Either way you are going to post it. Just depends if it makes it to the read only.

Well fair play to this Spurs Clock fella - he's not really left any lingering doubt or uncertainty with his news there. If we do get McCarthy developments soonish then his ITK status seems pretty certain.
As far as i am aware, he has never shared any info in the past, but he is a decent poster on there who is not a wum and has been on SO for 4 years now. So i personally believe this info to be just as his post is titled... genuine ITK. We will see.

Betting companies reeling you with strange odds to make you think it's a runner. that's my assumption.

As long as we've got Benteke and Chadli lined up then McCarthy would be a decent signing. Overrated IMHO and not as good as McArthur but definitely has a higher ceiling and is capable at defending as well as attacking. Around £10m would be a fair price.

Spot on.

McCarthy is valued at a ridiculous £20m by Wigan.

Bernard supposedly has a release clause of £21m.

I know who I'd rather have.

If we do adopt a 3 man midfield for the campaign, I guess I could see a five man rotation of Sandro, Dembele, Paulinho, McCarthy and Carroll working with the obvious hint that Parker, Huddlestone and Livermore are deemed surplus to requirements.

All would get plenty of games I feel but this can't be at the expense of more glaring deficiencies in the side, of which have been explained to death.

McCarthy is a good player but we have enough central midfielders. I know it's a squad game but we're ok in that department IMO. Would rather the money be spent on other areas.

Don't buy the McCarthy stuff myself. Not doubting the sincerity of the poster on SO, but I just can't see a situation where we've already spent £17m on a central midfielder and we also know that we desperately need a striker which would eat up another substantial wad of cash (with most of the options we'd be looking at likely to cost in excess of £10m)... and then purchase another central midfielder on top of that for a £8m-£16m sum. That's just too much business for us to get done, IMO.
