2011-12 Bale 25 goal/assists

2011-12 Adebayor 28 goal/assists

Personally, I don't think we are as desperate for a striker as some think.

We can't gamble on Ade being the player of two seasons ago. We all hope he will, but we need another option, and a bloody good one at that

He isn't verified ITK and talks to Akqa a lot on twitter. There's a lot of residual hate for Akqa on here due to him becoming a bit WUMmy and it spills over to Suter because they are friends and he posts info in a similar way.

A bit?

He went full WUM. You never go full WUM.

If adebayor kept up that rate into last season we wouldn't be as desperate as we are now, but bearing in mind ade's last season and how he's been at other clubs its safe to assume he won't repeat the similar goals and assists he made in the 11/12 season into this season.

he's in Turkey with the spanish u-20 side and been there quite a while. Unless he was allowed to leave the camp to make a trip or it was before the U-20 World Cup, or today as they got eliminated yesterday, it wasn't him.

Do we know when this mystery player supposedly visited? As could of been before the U20 World Cup?

Personally I think it may be a player we havent yet been linked with much. Chadli only came about recently so maybe its somebody we haven't had many links to. I doubt its Villa or Benteke were linked with them every week!

That ITK on Damaio not being a priority was always a little disappointing to me, looks like Internacional are marketing him to Napoli as a replacement for Cavani, reckon Leandro would take that move in a heartbeat.

Leandro IMO is a gamble plus he has never really seemed interested in our 'interest' via the press! For the amount of money he would cost Benteke would be a much better option for me

If the Villa move doesn't happen I hope we have a plan B,C,D,E etc.....with our record at buying strikers, I think we might need them all :barefoot:

So who is going to guarantee that ? Chelsea went and bought Torres for 50m and he didn't score so many.

Villa is 31, would be coming off the back of a major injury and settling into a new league. Morientes went to Liverpool for 10m Eur and flopped.

There are no guarantees with anyone, let alone within our range (budget/football).

Personally I like the idea of Villa but I can see the financial risk and would be just as happy if we sold Defoe, promoted one of our development group and bought someone like Rebic from Croatia and produced our own Lewandowski type signing at the beginning of his career rather than the end.

Going into next season with Adebayor, Bale, Rebic and Coulthirst as a striker group for example would be fine with me.

I think Adebayor with a pre-season in him and AVB getting the best out of him would be one of the top strikers in the EPL. Bale is the top wide forward. If we can add a creative like Eriksen, Dzagoev, Belhanda, Payet then with Paulinho, Sandro and Dembele in midfield we will be fucking formidable.

Wouldn't really describe him as any of them really. He's more a Stuart Downing type winger, only a bit bigger and stronger. Not really what we need IMO.
That's hard on Chadli, comparing him with Downing. He's far more prolific and not limited to playing on the wings. he can play as number 10 as well and I could see him evolve to a '10'. Twente's performances improved alot at the end of the season iwith Chadli on 10 and he was quite impressive with Belgium against Servia where he also played behind a striker (Benteke). Judging on our last season, AVB likes to interchange his 3 AM's. Chadli would be weapon and is a more complete player than Sigurdsson.

PS. i did mention 2 weeks ago that according to leading Dutch footy magazine VI, we were fintely one pf thenclubs that enquired about him - but without further follw-up then.

I have never heard of Nacer Chadli (except I think he used to sign for Villa a lot on FM) but he's not David Villa so BOO

I agree that Damiao is certainly in the 'gamble' bracket, but still think we'll all be saying how close we came when he's picking up the Golden Boot in at the World Cup next year.

Benteke looked like beast, and unplayable on a number of occasion - like Ade in his 1st season with us.
My fear is say we shell out 22million and get '2nd season struggler Benteke', these deals for a big fee for a single season performance are also a gamble.

Hopefully our strikers in this window are Villa +1 , I'm just not sure that Benteke is that 1 !

You make this sound so easy, "just produce another Lewandowski" if it was, everyone would be doing it. There's a reason why people do pay big money for strikers too, because finding one who is raw and shaping them is really damn hard and has no guarantees either..

Personally I think Adebayor has been a failure of AVB's man management. He clearly hasn't been able to inside his head in the way Harry could, but the chances of the situation getting better seem fairly slim.

Just need depth up front, I personally think Ade is a very good player but if he is injured or out of form there is nothing else like him.
