Do we really have to go there again? I'm sure levy would have loved to buy a world class player in january and qualified for the cl. But he didn't and there would have been reasons why.

Because they cost £20m+ being the biggest reason.

Wait till the end of the window and see who we get. I doubt we'll buy 2 or 3 players at £20m+ but we will bring a couple in.
Just a personal opinion but I doubt that we will pay £20m for any player this summer as history has shown us so far.

Do you see any teams outside CL splashing that kind of cash on players except the ones owned by Sheikhs or Russian billionaires?

Our transfers in will be in the range between £0 to £15m until we climb back to CL and have the new stadium ready.

If we sold Bale it would be a completely different story but that's not what I want either.

Budgets are bigger from this summer due to the tv money going up. If you factor that in, I expect we will pay 20m+ but it would in real terms be no more than when we bought Bentley or Bent. For example, even Mr short-arms-long-pockets himself Arsene Wenger seems likely to spend 30m+ on a player or two.

Being in cl makes no difference to our transfers we seen that. Really need the new stadium just to keep up with the rich clubs but not a lot seems to be happening on that front tbh

it's frustrating that he sees it like that as one big player in january probably(not definitely) would've resulted in champions league and the £30m+ that comes with it.

Aah...The Redknapp school of football philosophy. You are always one big signing away from nirvana. Or relegation and insolvency.

I don't think he meant to imply an entire philosophy by that comment B-C. It's hard to deny that money spent on a striker or two wouldn't have made a difference over the last few windows.

Where's all this TV money going then? Additionally I can't understand why Lewis was so keen to invest initially when we had significant net spends most seasons of £15-30m yet nothing now? Always been puzzled by that. A bit of investment will get us in the CL more and that will bring in valuable revenue for us. Maybe it's the stadium, but we've pissed about with it in my opinion. I recognise that Levy's trying to get the best deal and it can take planning etc. but the longer it goes on the more matchday revenue we're missing out on and the financial gap between us and Arse, Chavs, City and United continues making us gradually less and less competitive. If we'd shaped ourselves we could have had it completed by the start of next year.

We have NEVER spent £20m for a player, so why would it change now?

Because "lessons have been learnt".

The only reason I can see us spending on players is Gareth bale , imo bale won't stay another season unless levy told him we will back avb big time , I really believe levy will bring in quality players we need to go forward .
