One thing I will say about us these days is that you cannot fault the team's workrate. You can question some of their ability but it's nice to see a Spurs team put in proper shifts (bar Dempsey), considering most of them were given the run around for 90 minutes on Thursday night.

Carroll needs to start next game.

And I'm sure AVB anticipated this and this was a big factor.

Taking Dembele was the right decision, he consistently fails to spot what's going on ahead of him and is too focused on beating his man with a side step dribble.

He needs to improve his awareness and spot those making runs ahead of him, his team mates expect him to beat his man and they make runs accordingly (sometimes) but he doesn't see it.

To be fair I thought it was madness, but I agree with this. Dembele was one of our better players, but like you said he did miss the opportunity to play people in numerous times and the more Everton sat back the less space he had to run it.

Sigurdsson is starting to find his shooting boots from his Swansea days, happy for him. His performances last season show he has the ability, just taken him time to settle. Always packs his game with effort too.
Similarly, after such a disappointing stop start season from Ade, lets hope these two goals in two games are the start of some much needed end of season form.
I think without Bale and Lennon, I'd rather have seen Carroll start in centre mid. He's not 'like for like' obviously, but he does provide us with some real energy and urgency. I think alongside Holtby, who also plats with the same dynamism, we may just see an improvement in our attacking play, and also in pinning the opposition back we will ease the pressure on our defence. Wouldn't have been quite so easy a view if Sandro was still playing or Parker was on last years form.

Absolutely gutless today. If we had won that it the end it would been in spite of AVB.

How the fuck did Dempsey stay on for the full 90? He was AWFUL. Wasted 2 good shooting opportunities and he's greedier than Defoe. All he wants to do is shoot from 30 yards whenever he gets it.

Why Dembele? If he has a knock then fair enough, but he looked fine to me. Parker/Holtby more worthy of getting the hook.

Why Huddlestone? He hasn't played in months. Why not Carroll?

Why put Ceballos on the bench if he had no intention of bringing him on? He was more prepared to bring on a full back when we were losing than him.

I have been and will remain fully behind AVB, but he's had another shocker today.

Some fantastic interchanges between Holtby and Siggy, some great football in spells. Adebayor and Siggy were excellent, Hudd came on and did well.

Very relieved we got a point in the end but utterly frustrated we didn't win on that performance, we really should of. Fourth isn't over yet and its blessing in disguise we have no League football for two weeks now.
Yup. Siggy was my MoM.

Hudd and Luka used to run our midfield against teams like United - he isnt suddenly a bad player - he is a brilliant distributor can pick a creative pass as well - Dembele for Dempsey and Hudd and Scotty running the centre - that should be the formula until Gaz gets back.

Until then - come on PAulo Di Canio!!!

Well we've seen Huddlestone being deployed in midfied from the start before this season and he is clueless in defence and under pressure because he needs time and space to do what he is good at.

Credit to Lloris too for making a big save, could have done better with the first goal though.

Dempsey was poor, he recognises that he's fallen down the pecking order and is trying too hard, all those silly pot shots won't keep you in the team Clint.

Left Dempsey on all game.

Didn't make any changes until it was effectively too late to turn the game around.

Some things today, and in the last couple games seriously make me question him. I still support him and think he's doing a good job but my faith has been shaken of late.

We were in control in the second half and there was no real need to make changes. Also we didn't have any player on the bench who would of came on and turned it around. I don't think AVB done anything wrong personally.

Wouldn't mind seeing Huddlestone and Dembele together in a 3, with possibly Parker. Huddlestone has trimmed down a lot and can help unlock teams who come to park the bus.

Yeah, i'd be tempted to give that a go: Hudd could actually sit and hold rather than drive forward and expose space (ahem, Scott Parker!) and they can both create in different ways. It wouldn't work against a pressing team like Southampton, etc. but could be good elsewhere.

Dawson is a total liability. I am not a big fan of Caulker but I think he should do a better job than him. Dempsey, don't even get me started, a total waste of space. Lennon is really missed today.

And you can't have two absolute liabilities playing alongside eah other at the back, it's suicidal.

This why CL is so desperately important, we need to be able to have great players in a starting eleven and proper quality as back up. Won't get that until we get back into CL.
