Look, I would love Llorente to come here - seriously I would and I wanted him more than any other striker including Falcao but I just don't see any way shape or form us buying him.

I know JJ alluded to Levy maybe pulling something out the bag big style but I refuse to build up my hopes to the level of Llorente.

But...could it possibly be?!?

I have a sneaking feeling just may come off... JJ alluded to the fact our striker search was proving difficult, but did suggest the possibility of a deadline day Levy special. Llorente's current situation, contract one year left, in dispute with his club, looks like a Levy special in making to me. I was against Llorente, based on the fact at the time it looked like him or Damaio, and I figured the Brazilians age and potential meant he was a better long term option. However, that ship appears to have sailed (for now anyway), so Llorente would tick all the boxes.

Dembele done, Lloris next I assume.
Couple of sales, Jenas hopefully, VDV unfortunately, Defoe possibly, Dos Santos eventually, Dawson maybe?
Then armed with that cash, one last Levy phonecall to Porto, final offer for Moutinho.
I think/hope the M'vila deal has gone quiet awaiting the outcome of this, ready to pull the trigger if Porto continue to play hardball.
Possibly go back to try and deal for Willian (or Dzagoev so the media would suggest), if not then Affellay on loan?
Finally, Levy goes balls out for Llorente, or some such other big name/suitable striker.
Should any of those fall down, then a last hour phone call to our new Spanish friends, fringe player loan deal to fill the gap.

Sales of fringe players could raise anywhere around £45m, plus upwards of £15m left of the Modric cash. Enough to cover what we need, Levy could deliver a significantly better balanced squad, younger average age, more flexible with a minimal net spend.

Well done for backtracking somewhat. However, I find the negative rep you gave me for simply replying with "we are all spurs fans" is a bit much. It will help the way you are viewed on here if you voice any disagreements instead of getting trigger happy with the neg rep. I often disagree with things people say, but never have I intentionally given it out, not in my nature.

Sorry mods, I know it's not that important, but I don't like red!

He "Disliked" me for telling him to chill. Put it down to experience mate..............WE WILL REAP REVENGE! ;)

Confirmation of a deal by ITKs that have a solid track record built up over a number of years is really not the same thing as this Akqa character and his "sources". Not by a long shot.

What i'm saying is that someone telling us something we all know already ie. Dembele is done, 5 minutes before it lands on the OS may well be ITK but it isn't advancing the knowledge very far.

In an evening where jack all is happening, Akqayid hearing that Fernandinho is the one we are now in for is genuinely informative and also backs up other rumours and media stories.

If you follow Akqayid, it's beneficial to use a filter to understand what is worth listening to and what isn't.
People just lump all his musing and big proclamations in together and think he's got nothing to say.
He has got plenty to say and is more ITK that 99% of us on here so i disagree with the 'baby with the bathwater' mentaility that has developed recently.

Could Llorente play in the same team as Adebayor though? I know all the bollocks about good players being able to play with anyone, but if we're serious about playing one main striker and one two wider players that drop back when required, could you accomodate both in the same team?

Would be a nice position to be in though :)

But I acted out in petulance! Here; take your revenge now and we will call it quits like men.
Nah, it's all good, that's not how I roll. Just learn from it - unnessecary rep with no explanation = not the way to do things.

That is all.

Erm probably been posted but just saw this on Yahoo and in the absence of much news I thought I would share this quote from Deschamps re: Lloris. I wonder if he put in a good word. And, I seriously hope Hugo doesn't make us wait until Friday!

France manager Didier Deschamps, who played in the Premier League briefly with Chelsea, has also revealed that he has discussed the move with Lloris.

"I talked with him by phone," Deschamps said. "He has a choice to make between Lyon and Tottenham. I talked with him but what was said concerns just me and him. He has until Friday to decide, we will see."

Thanks. I was mistaken and am happy to be corrected, as that probably does help and VDV speaks Dutch and Affelay would have more Dutch speakers here than at Schalke :)

But the Dutch racial rift has long been a misunderstanding from the 90's that was born from one picture and Davids and de Boer just both being massive assholes (don't get me wrong - like both of them as players, but wouldn't want to have a beer with either). While, like all places, there are race issues, the Dutch team isn't as plagued as we've been led to believe. :)

Spot on there was some racial divide but the major issue with the Dutch team is they are nutters
