I don't agree with the Levy bit but I agree with the general point of your post. We were stuck as a mid-table team for years, and United scuppered our development twice by signing Carrick and then Berbatov. I'm not sure there was much we could do about them leaving, but I'm sure we could have had more control over where they went.
Now we're much closer to United and should under no circumstances sell our best players to them. Modric isn't leaving on a free any time soon so he has little negotiating power other than saying he'll show the world how much of a dick he is by throwing his toys out of the pram (not that I think he would do that). United and the red-faced alcoholic can covet our players as much as they like, but ultimately there's only one player we should be selling to them, and that's Jack Shit.

I had it on very good authority that a while ago he was seen totally rat-arsed in Cockfosters, spitting at a cabby who refused to pick him up.
