i think he wants to head to portsmouth for loads of reasons.

They have a few african probably french speaking players
they won a cup
they have a better chance of staying up than sunderland
they have campbell who is ageing
They have had a long interest in him

Has Harry not done the same as Manure or the Scousers,
I.E unsettled a player that we had agreed a fee with Sunderland for, by constantly saying, he Kaboul wants to come to us and we would like to buy him,i know a lot could be newspaper talk, is this not the same as tapping up.If there is a rule does this not apply to Portsmouth, i would not now sell Kaboul just to be awkward, or i would ask for 10mil plus

Old Twitchy has done that with just about every player he has been interested in signing this summer, Kaboul, SWP, Crouch etc We seem to be one of the few clubs that likes to keep deal 'in-house' thesedays.

It's a bit difficult to accuse Harry of tapping up Kaboul two or three weeks after Kaboul was quoted in the papers saying "I would like to join Portsmouth".

And then he said "I would like to join Portsmouth".

After a short diversion, during which his agent said "Younes would never join Sunderland, even if there is an earthquake", followed by a meeting with Roy Keane, Kaboul resumed normal service by saying "I would like to join Portsmouth".

There's a degree of consistency there. Harry might even have concluded that he wants to join Portsmouth.

The only problem I believe is that Portsmouth have not offered enough money.

Kaboul may want to go there - but they have to cough up.

He did the same with Defoe, talking to the press about how much he wanted him and that he was wasted at Spurs etc.

It's true, if it's a LAW of the game - it should apply to smaller clubs like Portsmouth too. As the same it should do to us too. It's a very good point BryanaButler!

Yeah didn't Roy Keane mention this yesterday when he said Sunderland where the only club to agree a fee with us so that he didn't know how any other manager had permission to speak to Kaboul...

And why does Kaboul keep spouting that he wants to join Portsmouth? Seems a bit silly to saying you want to join a club unless you know the desire is reciprocated?

There's obviously been contact from Bagpuss, the difference is that THFC have probably given permission for the two parties to carry out negotiations.

Roy "Mr Straight Talking" Keane on football's bizarre world of tapping up:

"Kaboul won't be coming to Sunderland," Keane revealed exclusively to Setanta Sports. "He made his decision and I wish him well.
"Maybe I should've taken him to a casino until four in the morning as allegedly one of the managers has done.
"These things go against you but there you go."

So, according to Roy, either Martin O'Neill or Harry Redknapp spent a long night in the casino with our Younes.

Hmmm - Martin or 'Arry?

Tricky that one....

That's fucking funny! I can't wait to sell this bugger - even if he scores against us.

That's a terrific quote from Keano (the real one  ).

Can't see how we wouldn't at least nearly get our cash back on the lad given all this interest, to be honest, so surely it's either put up or shut up, Mr Redknapp.

:)

Surely we can get Gus or somebody to hold out an olive branch here.

"Younes, say you're really really sorry, you said things you didn't mean, want to play for the club etc.. Buy him a good bottle of port and everything will be fine"

'Arry, the Keano and MON have clearly seen what we have....

looks like Levy is about to make a 3m loss on him in 12 months if its true that Portsmouth have agreed a 5m fee

I was expecting 6m at least with an extra 1m in add ons

If Portsmouth sign Kaboul, they have done a bargain, and Harry knows that! Harry has always been good in the transfer market, and he knows what he is doing. He has built this Portsmouth team himself. From nothing to a top 6 contender in the Premier League. Now they have many international stars in their team, and that includes Defoe, Crouch, Diarra, Utaka, etc....

Impressive by Harry Redknapp, I have to say. He deserves a lot of credit for it.

I suspected you would like Portsmouth.

To be fair Redknapp has worked wonders if you add his first stint as their manager and look at where he has taken them from.

Although he has been fully backed by the chairmen he has worked under. Shows what a club can do with a good manager and a chairman who will back him and give him the time to forfill his vision.

Although the true test for Pompey will come in the next two seasons. Wheter they can sustain their success and kick on from there.
