Probably because we gave them half a fucking hour to decide whether to uproot from the countries they were living in. Because we showed no real interest at all, and were whoring ourselves around Europe throwing cash at anyone at all. Three of our best signings in recent years, Modric, Bale and Berbatov all explained how the club's courtship of them was the main factor in their coming here, i.e. they were made to feel wanted.

This was a spectacular balls-up. Money is not the issue, we have spent more than almost every other Premiership Club in recent years, and it seems like we were offering £30 mil plus this window, its the disastrous transfer policy that's to blame. What was the point of getting in the CL if we weren't gonna try and stay there??

Everything Levy does isnt 'ALWAYS' for the best of the club, remember Santini? The whole Jol/Ramos debacle? We missed out this January, and last summer, I fear that we may have missed a golden opportunity to cement our place in the CL this year.

have to agree

Yes they are, we're considerably worse off:

Man Utd - 76312
Arsenal - 60432
Newcastle - 52387
Man City - 47726
Liverpool - 45362
Aston Villa - 42640
Chelsea - 42055
Everton - 40170
Tottenham - 36240

Not sure how accurate these numbers are but it clearly shows how our competitors get higher revenue than us. It also makes me appreciate how well our club is run when one considers the obvious disadvantage we have!

But this shows that Pool and Chelsea don't have that much more coming in than us, yet they are able to spend millions more? and also pay big big wages. So sorry don't see the collation, it can't be revenue only from stadium reciepts.

Agree....

Levy on one hand says we must move to the OS as to compete at the highest level...and then fails to address our striker problem whilste chasing lost causes on the last day for mystifying reasons...thus making the likelyhood of 4th look a distant dream, especially with chelsea and city strengthening.

Makes you wonder what his motives were:shrug:, he has been a good chairman, but not beyond questioning...it is our club.

I am not suggesting he is delibaretly trying to make us fail in our quest for 4th...but i do think he should explain why we tried to buy theses guys with no time to do the deals and no real intention of paying what they wanted.
And to cap it off, suddenly decided we needed Charlie Adams instead with 10 minutes left:duh:

This after all the OS shit....we are again the butt of everyones jokes.

Cheers daniel.

We already are. Its the league that matters and we have nothing much to show for ourselves this year.

its starting to look that way, as the other clubs have strengthened their squads and we have Pienaar

I think the only thing in our favour is our run home

Who turned us down then??

Aguero perhaps to stay in Spain and he's at a big club already and is probably very settled in Spain.

Which other players refused to come to us and please don't quote ITK as we all know about that?

Agree with this, but it's also the fact we've got football's Arthur Daley as manager! I think Levy's consistent failure to appoint a top draw manager is so obviously a massive constraint in getting Spurs into the big time proper. Our transfer policy is a joke and our performance in this window has been utterly embarrasing.

Of the teams in the league with bigger stadiums than us - we generate more matchday revenue than Newcastle, Man City, Aston Villa, Everton, Sunderland, and Liverpool. For the 08/09 season we more than doubled the City revenue - 18m vs 39.5m. Obviously now they will be making a bit more than that, but we still making more despite having 12,000 less seats.

If we were to move to a 56,000 seat stadium we would increase revenue from £42m to around £65m. The difference there is the cost of suarez

People seem to be totally overlooking the fact that we didn't actually have any bids accepted, only the clubs turned us down, there is no saying whether the players would have turned us down or been talked into joining us.

Liverpool and Chelsea are much bigger brands worldwide, I would assume get a bigger cut if tv money and most importantly dont chelsea (and liverpool?) run at an annual loss? We're always in the black
