Yes they are, we're considerably worse off:

Man Utd - 76312
Arsenal - 60432
Newcastle - 52387
Man City - 47726
Liverpool - 45362
Aston Villa - 42640
Chelsea - 42055
Everton - 40170
Tottenham - 36240

Not sure how accurate these numbers are but it clearly shows how our competitors get higher revenue than us. It also makes me appreciate how well our club is run when one considers the obvious disadvantage we have!

not true, our dearesttickets are twice as much as theres & our stadium runs at 99% capacity.....its simply not true they gain more matchday revenue.....

[ pay rise.

Let's be sensible here lads, whilst we're at the Lane there is a limit to our resource. Levy runs the Club superbly and if things do/don't happen, it will always be in our best interests, ALWAYS![/quote]

don't get this blind faith in Levy. Commend what is good, quiestion what is bad. This has been a bad transfer window where our competitors have strengthened and we have had stood still

It's probably got more to do with they've all heard we serve dodgy lasagna. We should get in a great continental European chef and send them a menu with our prospectus.

That, and obviously the filthy lure of lucre that we're not as competitive with. It's a catch 22 for us as we're not quite in that +100k club. Until the club establishes regular CL in a suitable stadium or gets owners willing to bankroll a Chelsea or City type spend up, we're probably right not to be in that club. Safety first right...

If i'm correct, I believe that only Arsenal, United, Chelsea and Liverpool(althought the latter might change according to this season) have bigger revenues than us.

I think there are exceptions to the wage structure. If a world class player 30 years old comes in on a short term contract for a wage outside the rest but with a low transfer fee then it would make sense to anyone including other players who are on lower salaries but longer term contracts with the chance to negotiate them up later. The problem with doing a deal like Forlan is that the selling club were asking a transfer fee that would not make that kind of package work.
Having said that I think both now and in the summer we did not bring in what we needed . Having earned the chance to compete with the big boys we opted out. Suarez was definitely worth the money and I think time will prove we missed out. To be honest Crouch Defoe and Pav are so limited that it is highly disappointing that for 2 successive windows we have not been able to find anyone better. We have never replaced Berbatov and I think the best we can hope for is a 5thplace finish.

Yea, I guess we left it too late trying to get the completed world class strikers, the pressure to get fourth is kinda off now, we could have used the rest of the season to try and blood in the Kevin Gameiro's or Ricky Vanwolfswinkels, maybe make a world class striker.

In all fairness, football transfer fees and wages are beyond a joke. Hayley McQueen summed it up for me when she said, lets see how many millions of pounds have been spent this transfer window. Total disgrace what they're earning.

Tax is probably an issue.

Wage structure is another, and links in to the Tax one, if you are buying a player from Spain then he needs a wage increase really because in real terms it will feel like a pay cut. Thats not much of an incentive to join a foreign club he might not know too much about. When we are going for players like Forlan and Aguero who are already on high wages this may push them out of reach, even if we can come up with the transfer fee.

As we were linked with predominately Spanish based players this Window, I will also throw in that Im pretty sure some players wont move because of the difference in Climate. May sound silly but Im sure it happens more than people would think.

We don't have any success developing our own players like Southampton or Cardiff .

The best possible acquisition would be the team in charge of development at those two clubs .

Why do we have such a rigid wage structure ? Is it because Levy promised parity to players in order to get them to accept a lower deal ?

Would anyone other than Spur pay 40k a week for duffers like Jermaine Defoe who have flattered to deceive for years and are starting to look more than a little cheesy now ? Did anyone come in for him during the transfer window and if not what does that say .

and athletico madrid(forlan and aguerro) and sevilla(negredo, fabiano) are. spurs are far bigger than both of those clubs.

atletico have won 1 out of their last 5. sanchez-flores will be sacked this week. they will lucky to finish in the top 6 in spain.

sevilla will be lucky to finish in the top 8. um did harry not for 1 minute think about kanoute who he had managed before, who had played for spurs and whose fee wouldnt have been stupid

These forums are so bloody narrow minded. FM has improved over the year, one should think the general public had as well, as they seem to get all their input from the game.

We currently have two England forwards and a Russian international. We own but have loaned the current Irish captain....also a forward. You are considering coming to Spurs who have 2 or 3 world class players. What is that they play 1up front as the preffered line-up....is this going improve your career unless your name is Drogba? I don't think so.......why would anyone put themselves in such a situation?

I might be wrong but don't the management have some sort of pull too? I'm not saying players don't want to play for Harry but the bigger names just don't know too much about him

and before someone on here comes back with some crap about "the Harry out brigade" I want Harry as our manager for a long time to come. I just hope in time he gets to realise he's not at Southampton or Portsmouth and change his mind set with regards to what a quality player is for a club like Spurs

Chelsea are still losing 70 million a season. They aren't accumulating very much. Torres will cost them 10 percent of their annual turnover a year. 1 in every ten pounds the club receives will go on Fernando Torres.

It's not actually speculation. As for Liverpool, if and when we sell some players, we can buy some.

Perhaps part of the issue is Harry and Levy. Harry may be a great man mananger doing it his way, but some players do not respond to the arm round shoulder be my mate over a pint down the dog track, look at what has happened to the likes of Bent, Bentley, Dos Santos, Tarrabt, Bostock, and also now Pav, Charlie and Kranjcar. harry has only one style and whilst it may work for some it will not work for others. Agents may well be telling their players sign for Spurs and you'll sit on the bench. Bale only managed a run becasue there was no one else otherwise he was on his way on loan to Forest.
Also Levy is a great Chairman, but I beleive he is viewed as always trying a get a cheap deal by the rest of the footballing world, so many clubs just wind him up or will not deal with him.
