I hate Arsenal as a club more than anyone else. But i think i hate the West Ham fans more. And Chelsea are just ****s.

Arsenal fans are just arrogant but so would we be if we had their success over the last 15 years. Still doesn't make them any less of the bunch of ****s that they are. I've hated Chelsea moreso in the last few years since they cheated their way to the top when they should be where Leeds Utd are now. And Hammer fans in the whole are a bunch of chavvy fucknuts with 3 brain cells between the lot of them. They are ALWAYS giving it about us even though we're constantly better than them. I do have quite a few Hammer mates and individually they're alright, get them together and they become turds.

I like Russell Brand though.

The main thing is though, that i always expect to beat them at home and get something away, so i don't get anywhere near the thrill of when we beat Arsenal or Chelsea (but i do still get a massively big fucking thrill, don't get me wrong). And the problem is, despite the fact i still believe we are the team Arsenal fans want to beat most, they don't get that thrill as much as when they beat Utd or Chelsea, because they expect to win, like we do against the Hammers (not for much longer though if the last 3 matches against Arse are anything to go by...woo hoo!)

So, erm, yeah... Hammer fans are generally Divchavs. Or Chavdivs. ****s.

I have to agree with you west ham are the worst fans (genrally as people) but Newcastle are there and abouts. and about half of the Chelsea fans (IMO that the real ones are allright) are horrible. And have to admit...I get on with far to many Arsenal fans.....but I hate Arsenal as a club more then any other

I have to admit to having been a little condescending myself toward Woolwich St Germain since we beat them 5-1 in the CC semi second leg...

In terms of local rivalries, of course Arsenal hate us. But in terms of real footballing rivals, they hate Chelsea and Man U much more. Over the last ten years we've been miles behind Arsenal, and much as we hate them, they probably looked at us as no more than a mildly irritating distraction. Hopefully the 5-1 will change that, and they'll start looking at us as a real threat rather than just a chance for north London bragging rights. As someone else pointed out, the Arse look at us the way we look at West Ham. We laugh at the fact that West Ham view us as rivals when they have spent the last decade getting relegated and underachieving. And Arsenal laugh at us becuase we see ourselves as their main rivals despite finishing most seasons about 20 points behind them.

There's a big difference between footballing rivals and fan rivals. We'll always be massive fan rivals to Arsenal and West Ham, but in footballing terms, I'd imagine Fabregas and Adebayor get more excited about beating Man U than about beating Spurs.

Why oh why do you keep differentiating between this type of rival and that type of rival. You're so wrong about your analogy with regards to citeh and loserpool, I was at old trafford last year for united versus the spammers as a united mate of mine had tickets and we went up. Went to lots of united pubs and alot of abuse dished out some towards loserpool but predominantly to citeh, as a neutral it was very, very easy to see who united hated the most and it was citeh, even though the scousers are more of a threat and have more trophies.

This has fuck all to do with who is winning what currently, only plastics think like that or youngsters in the school playground.

I've told you before, I've lived all my life in North London and know alot of gooners and they all hate us more than any other team. I don't know who the fuck you're bumping into but they are either young and naive, on a wind up of you or just got into football and believe sky fucking tv and the wank infested media.

We are there rivals bar none.

And that pub you mentioned is a shit tip.

You are of course right as is Jgp.

I unfortunately know plenty of arse fans and whilst they may have a trophy rivalry with Utd and the Chavs their root of hatred has always been and always will be Spurs. You don't just change 90 odd years of intense rivalry over a few trophies and as you rightly point out only a plastic would ever consider it possible to do so. Spurs and Arsenal's rivalry and hatred runs far far deeper than winning a league or a cup but just maybe plastic fans don't understand this. For any genuine fan of Spurs and Arsenal there will only ever be 1 true rivalry and hatred and that is because try as you might history can never be re-written.

Even the notion of a real Arsenal fan wanting us to win the Prem or CL ahead of Man Utd or Chavski is ridiculous. My Gooner mates will always sing anti Spurs songs but never once have I heard them sing anti Utd or Chavski songs, I really don't think that they even have any.

Next time Arse are on telly listen out for the renditions of "Stand up if you hate Tottenham" etc because you will hear them. And then listen out for any anti Utd, Chavski or any other club songs because you most certainly won't hear any.

From 'The Spurs Miscellany', our very first game against the Arsenal, then still based in Woolwich, played on the Marshes on 19th November 1887.

'After arriving late, Arsenal scored an early goal and proceeded to defend for the rest of the game, indicating an early preference for the '1-0 to the Arsenal' approach that would become infamous a century later. This proved a mistake, as. with 15 minutes to go, Spurs led 2-1. At this point the Arsenal players began to complain of 'lack of light' and the match was called off.'

This was of course the start and then the events of 1913 & 1919 intensified the rivalry to what it still is today.

Unfortunately reading through this thread I'm not convinced that even some of our own fans know or understand the history, the intensity or the reasoning behind what is still English footballs fiercist hatred.

It was Ray Clemence who said after playing in his first NLD and asked to compare it with the Merseyside derby that it was on a completely different scale. He basically said that although Everton & Liverpool are rivals and its intense there is a line. Whereas with Spurs and Arsenal there pretty much is no line and he could feel how much the fans of both sides really hated each other to the point of extremes. He actually said that he felt quite intimidated by the whole thing.

My Dad used to go to a pub in the bethnal green called Ye Olde Hope and the landlord and the regulars were west ham fans. He dislikes them more than other team, i think it is who you are in the environment of to be honest and someone made the point about the spurs fans in Essex with the west ham fans. Not that i am a fan of the Gooners though

What's kinda funny is that give it 2 or 3 years when we are a fixture of the Top 4 and challenging for the league we will have the goons, Spammers and Chelski all hating us !!!!!

So we'd better get used to it, not that it bothers me in the slightest.

That is a great little book, I urge all our more 'recent' fans to ensure they know their history in future by giving it a read.

And to think it seems like only yesterday that the current Woolwich manager was complaining about conditions - this time, the pitch itself.

Hang on, it WAS yesterday!

Unfortunately, due to his famous myopia ("I did not see it..."), Wenger was unaware that Wigan Athletic also had to cope with the conditions on the very same pitch.

Are West Ham our rivals? What does Football Manager say

My best mate is a West Ham fans so I want to beat them just so I don’t have to deal with any abuse from him. Other then that, apart from a bit of banter, I don’t really care about them. E came and watched the CC final with me, and he seemed to want to us to win. Then again he was surrounded by Spurs fans at the time.

I view the scum as our biggest rivals. I still bring up the 5-1 and that was 2 months ago! The best thing is the guy’s I know who support the scum, parents or grand parents were Spurs fans. Can really rip it out of them. Strange thing is I think my influence is rubbing off on my Spammer supporting mate. He really dislikes the Scum (of the Woolwich verity) but I think that’s down to me concentrated hatred for those wankers.

I think the point about geography is a good one mind. I live in West London so I know lodes of Chelscum fans and I really hate them, almost as much as I hate the Scum. They all seem to feel the same way about Spurs too. They would rather beat us then Arsenal or Fulham. Then again, saying that, they also seem to have a real hatred for Leeds so perhaps they like hating random teams.

I have to say having read a number of these posts its easy to digress.

However, I was unaware that WH were a major rival. I always consider Ar5ena1 to be ours due to location. Perhaps this is why Hammers fans do so with us, as their closest (geographically) prem rival.

Anyway, for what its worth, I couldnt care less about WH right now. They are bound to be beat their chests and rev their Ford Escorts, becuase they know they have been humiliated over the last week.

Probably cheer themselves up and buy a sovereign ring.

I thought the West Ham thing would be to do with the fans mixing around Walthamstow, Bethnal Green and that.

A couple of seasons ago I was watching the Villa v Spurs game in a pub near Waterloo, the one where Keano scored the equaliser after Milner had put them in front, about halfway through the first half all this ICF lot pile into the pub after they've played Fulham and had a bit of a battle according to them. They made a beeline for me as I was the only Spurs fan in the pub with a replica shirt on, giving it all the 'we're rivals, we are'. They really do hate us far more than we hate them I think, I only really wanted them to go down after the lasagne gate game.

Citeh's dislike of United stems from the fact that they jealous of the Uniteds success, Uniteds dislike of Citeh stems from the fact that they are jealous that Citeh's fans live in Manchester while Uniteds have to travel up from London every second week.

That not actually true ,city were the bigger club until the Munich air crash.
There are more Man utd st holder in Manchester with manchester post codes than city, but more city fans in greater manchester.

I committed a ultimate sin in my families eyes, they are all from stratford, forest gate and canning town and are west ham through and through but i grew up in walthamstow so naturally i'm a yid, i'm not sure my dad has ever forgiven me for the betrayal. He took me to a pub in leyton to watch to watch the 3-2 fa cup game and the stick he was getting from his mates for having a 'dirty yid' son was unbelievable, they really do hate us. But me for being at school with lots of ar5ena1 fans when they were winning trophies was a nightmare, and thats why i hate them (and for killing our parrett/budgie or whatever it was).

i like them being in the prem for the banter with family but thats about it.

No, not a good post; just someone who has the same argument as you.

All the players mentioned in this thread (Nicholas, Clemence) are all players from 20-30 years ago - when we were rivals - both on the pitch and trophy wise.

Nowadays, we are not rivals on the pitch. Since we won the FA Cup in '91. They have been in 6 FA Cup finals (won 5), won 4 titles and been runners up 5 times. They have been in 4 European finals (ECWC*2, UEFA CUP and ECL) and they have been in the Champions League for the past 11 seasons.

Since 1991, we have won 2 league cups and 1 FA Cup. We have been in 1 other final. We have never finished higher than 5th in 17 years.

Local rivals, yes. Rivals on the pitch, I wished.
