Well after last night's game, it perhaps poses more questions than answers in terms of who should be lining up on Sunday against QPR and I don't expect wholesale changes with just a few players coming back in, although much will depend on Naughton's fitness.

Considering we have Carlisle in the cup next Wednesday, I will take a stab with;

Lloris
Walker Gallas Caulker Vertonghen
Sigurdsson Sandro Dembele
Dempsey Defoe Bale

think it will be that with the exception of Friedel in goal and captain (still shuddering at the memory) Lennon instead of Dempsey

...got to Lloris and stopped reading. It would be man-management akin to Darren Bent's demise under Redknapp if AVB kicked Friedel out now.

Friedel will start and Lloris will drop to the bench. Gallas will come back for Caulker and it will be as you were, with Naughton the only doubt.

Didn't even consider Bale at fullback, but great shout. I really like the look of that team considering our current injury situation.

It's an interesting solution to drop Bale to LB in the circumstance that Naughton is out and one would imagine Vertonghen will naturally shift across to the left to cover when Bale is bombing forward and it's certainly an attacking line up at home in which we have struggled for goals of late.

Lennon would definitely have to be in there for me, without him I really don't think we would have looked as dangerous as we did yesterday at all.

I would have Dempsey and Adebayor (who will hopefully be fit enough) on the bench. It's one thing I really liked seeing against Reading and that was us playing as well as we did with good options still on the bench to change the game if need be. The main thing in question is the left back position which could well see something like Spurs Bear has put.

Mate to be honest I would play it if Naughton was fit anyway...

Friedel
Walker Gallas Vertonghen Naughton
Sigurdsson Sandro Dembélé
Lennon Defoe Bale
If Naughton is out, then I think I'd either move Gallas out to left back and bring Caulker in, or push Bale back into left back and bring Dempsey in. Last thing I want is for Vertonghen to play out at left back. I know he can do it, I just want him settled in at centre back as soon as possible.

Is a team I think we should consider, especially at home.

My main gripe with Lennon in the side is the poor decision making in the final third along with the fact that Dempsey would provide more of a goal threat against QPR.

I can certainly see the logic of starting either Lennon or Dempsey though but the main issue will be on our left flank I feel.

people with short memories re Bale at left back

I remember him doing very well when he first broke into the team when Assou-Ekotto was injured before moving into left midfield. He can definitely do a job there, especially at home to QPR.

The same Lennon who has been one of our better players so far this season, already clocking up two assists from crosses?

I would keep the core of the team from the last game together, and bring in Sigurdsson for the injured Naughton, switching the roles of a couple of players.
