I thought he was at his best in the first half when Capoue wasn't on the field?
I agree.
But Stoke hardly pressed us.
He looked better going forward because Capoue allowed him the freedom to get forward.
Man Utd next so we will see.
Today was his day and i cant fault him for that, he was brilliant.

I think Dembele and Paulinho were the men behind our success today and did a great job of protecting our defence and supporting our attacks.
Really well done to both of them.

Lloris - 6 quiet day

Naughton - 7 solid in defence and creative in attack - he's a right back and he's a good player when he gets a chance to play in his correct position

Chiriches - 6 quiet day

Dawson - 6.5 quiet day - gets an extra half point for his beautifully timed block early in the game

Fryers - 6 defended well, couldn't do a great deal in attack because Eriksen was infield most of the time - I always get the impression with Fryers that he is playing slightly within himself, that he could do more if he would let himself go a bit

Dembélé - 8.5 all-round inspiring performance - powerful, focused, accurate and with an excellent goal to cap it off - dominated Stoke's 3-man midfield with either of his partners - MotM

Paulinho - 8 nearly as good as Dembélé and gave us some displays of lovely skill, but wasted some good shooting opportunities

Eriksen - 6 inferior set pieces, but good midfield play and, as in his previous 2 matches, showed that he can do the dirty work in midfield, not just play as a no. 10; drifted inside constantly, but I expect that Sherwood and Fryers anticipated that

Lennon - 7.5 terrorised Stoke's defence throughout and gave us some very nice end-product as well

Adebayor - 7 an admirable display, except for his finishing - hard work personified, all over the pitch, winning the ball, holding it up and passing well

Soldado - 6 similarly to Adebayor, but less so - missed the kind of chance that he should never miss

Capoue - 6.5 slotted in beautifully and passed well - must have impressed Sherwood

Lamela - 6.5 another promising display from Lamela, as against West Brom; he's getting better

Chadli - 6 did his job in the centre

Lloris 6.5 Didn't really have much to do!
Naughton 7 Best performance in a Spurs shirt!!
Dawson 6 Two things he did that could have cost us the game - the tackle amd the misjudgement that fortunately came to nothing!
Chiriches 6.5 Makes me nervous!
Fryers 7 Played very well. Seemed confident. Very good performance!
Lennon 6.5 Excellent goal but can do better with crosses!
Eriksen 6.5 Poor freekicks and corners and can definitely do better!
Paulinho 8.5 Simply excellent!!! Hope he is not injured to play at OT!
Dembele 9 Simply the best today! Bossed midfield, took players on and what a goal!!!
Adebayor 7.5 Did very well. Held the ball up well too.
Soldado 6 Scored the pen and could have had at least another one!
I liked our midfield and definitely like the look of Soldado and Ade up front!

Capoue 6 Did well
Lamela 6 Was OK. Need to adapt and will be a great signing! Trying hard!
Chadli 6 OK

Here's the way I saw it from the far back corner of the east stand ...

Hugo - 7 hard to mark as not much to do, flapped at one cross but got away with it
Naughton 7.5 - a really solid game, some nice passes - absolutely fine
Daws - 7.5 a little lucky with one decision but absolutely fine on the whole & good distribution
Vlad - 7.5 very good
Fryers 7.5 as above re naughton - round pegs in round holes works perfectly well & avoids annoying super jan
Paulinho 7, better than I've seen from him so far, some delightful touches although still poor at shooting & I worry about his lack of passing range. I hope he is fit for Wednesday so he can build on this improved performance.
Dembele - 8, a good game, great goal, again hopefully he can build on this, needs some guile & passing ability as a midfield partner though to compliment him as we still don't move the ball quickly enough.
Eriksen 6.5 - I'm sure he will be a great player but he is struggling at the moment & looks a bit lightweight. Poor set pieces also. Still better than siggy though & needs games to get better.
Lennon 8.5 mom for me, lively, worked hard, created clear cut chances & great goal. Went off to standing ovation.
Ade 7.5, played well, first half in particular
Soldado 7, clinical pen, linked well at times really needs a goal from open play as he looks a little short of confidence.

The crowd was better than I expected, not exactly rocking but not negative either, helped by the scoreline as there are some understandably fed up season ticket holders at the moment and we still move the ball far too slowly in midfield. We got a little luck with some decisions today & scored two good goals but still a long way to go. Individually most were good yet the performance still wasn't particularly exciting which tells me we are not yet playing as a team, also Stoke really were very very poor.
Overall the best that could be expected given the small amount of time tim's had on the training pitch & the injuries to jan, sandro etc.

Lloris 6 - Had little to do but did it with panache.
Naughton 6 - Solid defensively, linked up well going forward and played a lovely through ball for Lennon at one point.
Dawson 6 - Dealt with Crouch well enough. One slight cock up where he won the ball but then let Walters in.
Chiricheş 6.5 - Swept up second balls well and drove us forward from the back.
Fryers 6 - Solid.
Lennon 8 - Lively and scored a great goal as well as putting in some excellent deliveries.
Paulinho 8.5 - Superb apart from his shooting. Looks like either the enforced break or the change of manager has done him the world of good.
Dembélé 9 - The beast dial was turned up to 11 today. Outstanding.
Eriksen 6.5 - Drifted in and out and set pieces were generally poor. Good passing and movement.
Adebayor 7.5 - Another fantastic first half, faded in the second.
Soldado 7 - Now he's getting chances he doesn't seem sure what to do with them. Far from a bad game though, was involved in some nice interplay.

Capoue 6 - Beastly.
Lamela 6 - Silky.
Chadli 6 - Muscly.

I thought Dembele was awesome. It strikes me that not only are the new players looking better under a more relaxed, attacking system, but the players we bought last summer might just start to sparkle too. I was very excited when we signed Dembele and Sigurdsson based on their performances for Fulham and Swansea, but was a bit underwhelmed by them. Dembele's performance today was what I had in mind when we signed him, completely dominant and with an end product. It's amazing what attacking movement does - it makes players behind look better, as they are able to find someone in dangerous positions with a pass, or use the space to dribble.

Lloris - 6 - nothing to do
Naughton - 6 - solid
Dawson - 6 - untroubled
Chiriches - 6 - ditto
Fryers - 6 - looked a lot better than I remember him being
Dembele - 9 - absolute beast of a performance and superb goal
Paulinho - 8.5 - Wow, so THAT's why he starts for Brazil
Lennon - 7 - very underrated player, great attacking threat and works so hard for the team
Eriksen - 6 - bit of an off-day for him in terms of final ball and set pieces
Soldado - 7 - great general play, but needs more conviction in his shooting. Its coming though, he's now getting the chances, so its only a matter of time.
Ade - 8 - superb forward play, deserved his standing ovation

Capoue - 6 - solid
Lamela - 7 - starting to look confident
Chadli - 6 - did ok

Lloris 6 - not much to do, but I'm sure he will be happy with the clean sheet.

Naughton 6 - probably his best game for us, well done Kyle.
Dawson 6 - okay
Vlad 6 - big improvement from Boxing Day
Fryers 6 - decent, I reckon if we recall Ekotto we should try and send him on loan to QPR

Lennon 7 - decent comeback game, took his goal very well, set up two decent chances, we need more off that Azza
Paulinho 8 - very good performance, some wonderful flicks
Dembele 9 - bossed the game, awesome goal, similar to Lennon we need more off that Moussa
Eriksen 6 - some poor set pieces, other than that decent

Ade 7- so glad he is playing, holds up to ball very well and looks a threat
Soldado 6 - one good chance which he should've at least hit the target, one really really good chance which he should've buried, other than that, decent

Though overall he had a good game but really frustrates me with how many times he passes the ball behind the player instead of into the path of their run and he's not the only one that does this either.
