I really hope Sherwood lets Dembele off the leash. We have one hell of a player on our hands here.

I agree, really want to see the Dembele that tore Man Utd apart for Fulham just before he moved to us. So much ability.

How people can say they want rid of Dembele just baffles the hell out of me.

People moan about Paulinho it was as clear as the sky is blue he needed a rest AVB surprised me on that, the suspension came at the right time for him. There is a goal scoring player imo in paulinho.

Well that was just a monumental improvement from the West Brom game, it's barely worth comparing the 2. Today we played proper, sensible, balanced and yes, attacking football - it was notionally 4-4-2, but a world of difference to the 4-4-2 we have seen in previous games and all the better for it. Tactically I do have issues with Dembele and Paulinho in CM, but other than a couple of instances where they got caught with none of them protecting that dangerous space between the lines they were both superb, rotated well and ensured this was never going to be a contest.

At the heart of all things good was Adebayor, he was just superb. He dropped deep and drifted wide to overload, combine and bring others into the game with great effect - we transferred the ball to him quickly and played off him really well, and once more he looked like one of Europe's best like he is when his head is screwed on.

I can get on board with this style of football.

Lloris 6 Default mark for turning up on time.

Naughton 7 Looked something resembling a footballer as RB, good game.
Fryers 7 Best showing from him yet.
Dawson 7 Good game, bit suspect in the air, but it was Crouchy.
Chiriches 7 Good game.

Paulinho 7.5 Dynamic, skilful game.
Dembele 8.5 Controlled the game, drove forward well, superb goal. Complete performance.
Lennon 7.5 Best from him for a while, should have had a couple of assists but for wasteful finishing.
Eriksen 6.5 I liked what he tried to do, just didn't quite come off. He'll be a top signing.

Adebayor 8.5 Superb game.
Soldado 7 It's coming, I just hope it comes soon.

That feels a whole lot better doesn't it.

Im one of the Dembele doubters.
Yes i gave him MOTM today because he deserved it.
Looks much better in the oppos half and needs Capoue holding.
Hes had some pretty awful performances aswell.
Great goal today and more of the same please.

I thought he was at his best in the first half when Capoue wasn't on the field?

Lloris 5.6 - Confident but not much action
Naughton 6.5 - A very un-Naughton performance at times
Dawson 5.5 - A very Dawson performance
Vlad 6.5
Fryers 7
Dembele 8.5 - Just edges MOTM just for the goal. Great performance
Paulinho 9 - Tekkers and would have probably got his goal if it wasn't for Chunky Adam
Eriksen 6 - A bit sloppy but some good phases too
Lennon 7 - Some woeful play, some decent play. Good goal
Soldado 7 - Well taken pen
Ade 7 - Loved his crazy acrobatics that demonstrated that Shawcross is little more than a functioning moron

Subs
Capoue 6.5 - Had nothing to do
Lamela 7.5 - I don't care that Lennon scored, Lamela was so much more assured in play
Chadli 6.5 - a few neat bits and pieces

I am interested as to how you gave Lloris 5.6. Is it an arithmetic or logarithmic scale? How much better is 5.6 compared to 5.5?

Soldado is doing everything right except his shooting, he looks shot of confidence

He also is getting frustrated at the lack of passes. Made runs a couple of times(sometimes twice whilst the same player was on the ball) and when the pass didnt come he was pissed

Hugo Lloris (15) Wasn’t required to do much as Stoke posed no attacking threat, but completed 60% of his passes, which is an improvement on recent games.

Kyle Naughton (19) Much improved on his horror show against Liverpool last time out, he completed 90% of his 68 attempted passes and won three out of five tackles.

View attachment 9123

Michael Dawson (9) Susceptible in the air as he won just two of six aerial battles, but completed two clearances and made two interceptions.

Vlad Chriches (45) Made seven clearances, two interceptions and completed 98% of his 50 passes, misplacing just one all game.

View attachment 9124

Zeki Fryers (18) Given a vote of confidence for his first Premier League start and completed two out of four crosses, made two interceptions and two clearances.

Aaron Lennon (22) Scored with his only attempt on goal, but was successful with only two of ten take-on attempts and failed to find a Spurs man with any of his four crosses.

Mousa Dembele (79) Terrific display from the Belgian who scored with his only shot on goal, completed all three take-on attempts and completed 97% of his 72 passes.

View attachment 9125

Paulinho (30) Excellent game from the restored Brazilian, who completed 92% of his 39 attempted passes and won all five of his take-on attempts before unfortunately being substituted with injury

View attachment 9126

Christian Eriksen (41) Only found a Spurs man with one of eight crosses, but forced three saves from Sorensen and completed 84% of his passes.

Emmanuel Adebayor (24) His blocked shot led to the penalty, while he had two other shots and completed both take-on attempts.

Roberto Soldado (68) Scored from the penalty spot again and assisted Lennon’s goal, while he had a further three shots and completed hsi one take-on attempt.

Subs:
Etienne Capoue (9) Made two interceptions and completed 84% of his passes, but conceded two fouls.

Erik Lamela (-9) Got booked in his short time on the pitch and lost out on both attempted tackles.

Nacer Chadli (0) Cameo display from the Belgian winger, but he completed eight out of his ten attempted passes.

Are you clinically insane - or do these million lines and squiggles actually mean something?
