It was great to see some movement ahead of the ball - Naughton's deliciously weighted ball through to Lennon came about because he saw the movement of Lennon.

Have re watched it quite a few times and like has been pointed out a thousand times Stoke were poor - but equally we made them look at it. There's been plenty of times we've seen poor sides come to the Lane and we've been poor to resulting in a dull and passive affair.

Anyway, better movement - sharper passing and more men getting forward and into the box. Good stuff.

Lloris 6 for staying awake

Naughton 7.5 very good game, comfortable defensively and supported our attack wells. Best game in a Spurs shirt.

Dawson 6.5 not that much to do - could of given a pen away though.

Vlad 6.5 not that much to do - comfy

Fryers 7 looks technically quite good, strong and athletic - good game.

Lennon 8 should of had a couple of assists, nice goal, played really well I thought.

Paulinho 7.5 some sublime touches and flicks, was playing really well until that fuck called it short.

Dembele 8.5 MOTM great goal, bossed the game from start to finish....I hope we can expect to see more of this as its no fluke.

Eriksen 6.5 set pieces were pretty poor, but I liked how he went about his business....he's only going to get better and better.

Adebayor 8 won the penalty, should of had a goal, but his overall contribution linking up the play as a focal point was superb.

Soldado 7 he should of had at least one goal but he's heavily involved in our attacks. cool pen again, the flood gates will open soon.

There is undoubtedly a deflection.

The ball was hit with the instep from a very short distance without a great deal of power and ended up top spinning in as well as changing directions...The only way that can happen is if it gets a deflection. To put topspin on a volley takes a very specific striking technique, one Lennon certainly didn't employ.

Maybe the ball was passed to Lennon with topspin and his shot didn;t take it off - watch the vid I posted and any deflection on Lennon's shot os not apparant.

That's an excellent point. When Soldado crosses Adebayor tries to control it and flies off him and falls for Lennon. Every chance Adebayor's touch put the top spin on it before Lennon hits it.

Naughton deserves higher than the average score in here, I've watched the game again and he was very good both defensively and offensively. If it was Walker he'd be getting 8's on average.

Would he balls, he'd still be getting the usual 'no brain' comments from some and marked down for it.

Naughton played well, and did what he had to do without fuss defensively, which like the rest of the defence wasn't much, and played one super ball inside for Lennon. Think 7 is more than enough, no need to go overboard.

Mate I've just watched it for the first time, pretty sure there's a deflection, it's like the one that Dempsey got last year at WHL when he came on as sub, but obviously on a much smaller scale. The trajectory of the ball makes it virtually impossible for it to travel like that without a little nick. Shouldn't take anything away from the goal though as it was on target and probably going in.

I'm in the "it took a deflection" camp.

If anyone cares.
