Feels like this team and fan base is teetering on the edge of an implosion.

3 or 4 bad results in a row and it could get messy really quick.

Need a performance as well as a result.
That's the problem when the football isn't nice to watch. You are always a couple of consecutive losses away from meltdown. The expectations of the fans have risen since the Poch era and as a manager you are either expected to provide results or football that at least looks like its going to bring results in the future. Dissatisfaction has been brewing for a few weeks and after the NLD you feel the pair of away games we have coming up this week are fraught with danger. I'd take a draw today and a win vs Brighton if you offered it to me now. Part of me expects two losses though.

I agree with you but I think we had some enjoyable performances back end of last season. I can't quite work out why we look worse this year.

Conte will not change though. So you have to start thinking about changing the manager if you want something different.

Changing the manager means I don't know what? Uncertainty at the very least. Kane probably will leave. Our squad is being built for a manager who plays 3/5 defenders.

I haven't seen anyone suggest sacking Conte but if the style is not what you want, Conte will not change.

yea strange as we have seemed to regress this season
interesting to see what he does tonight as we have been crap away from home most games this season (Chelsea, Arse, Sporting, West Ham)

Results-wise I'm fine with where we're at this season. League position is above-par and 1W 1L is OK in the CL.

In terms of performances, I just want us to see us try something a bit different to freshen things up. Despite the pre-season, we seem to have regressed at playing Conte's system, weirdly. Not sure if that's down to teams figuring us out, or if we're simply a bit off form (probably both).

The odd game with a 3-5-2 would at least mix things up a bit, or playing a game with an attacking RWB - either of those would spice things up tonight. Or a run-out for Gil to add something different.

If it's the same lineup as Arsenal we might get a result but I doubt we'll look too convincing as the Rich/Royal right sided combo really doesn't work IMO.

I know it's good for our prospects having an "easier" group but without a glamour tie it really does feel Europa League and harder to get up for the games.

Not much will change unless Conte goes 3 5 2. But he seems to be stubborn and oblivious to what the rest of us, the media and pundits see.
I would prefer us to play 352 because I like numbers in midfield.

But I would not like Conte to change tack based on what I, you, and all the other fucking numpties in the media and punditry world think because he’s a fucking trophy laden serial winner and the rest of us aren’t.

Speak for yourself mate, i got a silver medal in the mixed relay in my year 9 sports day...FWIW if it wasn't for me my team would have got the gold.

It's weird how desperate we were to get back in the champs league last season, and now we are it is a bit meh. I suppose the group is not particularly exciting but still it is the ultimate club competition.
We should be able to through this group. A win tonight will help but even if we don't win, we still can get through with 9 or 10 points. Anyway let's be more positive. 3 points tonight, a good performance and then on to Brighton at the weekend. COYS.
For me, at least, whilst CL qualification was extremely important, I am much more hoping for domestic honours.

When we qualified for the CL under Poch, it felt like we were under-prepared to battle both CL and domestic honours. I think that was confirmed by how we bowed out of a tricky but not super tough group. Once we did, our league and domestic cup form really took off.

We lost to United a few days after our last CL game. But then we only dropped points in 4 of our final 23 games.
People often say the defeat against West Ham cost us the title, it didn't, it was our slow start.

Anyway, back to the point I was going to make. I think when you are trying to battle on 2 major fronts (CL/PL) it takes a year or 2 to become adjusted to the rigours of it.

In contrast, so far this season Arsenal have only had one European game (a cakewalk), they've essentially been operating week-to-week. Even prior to our game, a significant number of our players had mid-week International football, whereas a huge number of theirs didn't (Jesus, Magalhaes, Martinelli, Partey, Ramsdale, White, Zinchenko).

This will be good for us as the season goes on because we will adjust, whereas Arsenal haven't really been exposed to that yet.

So, I think whilst I want us to get out of the group stages, I think it's a gradual process as we can then focus domestically, qualify again for next season and then improve the team/adapt so we can go better next year.

Fergie and Wenger both really struggled with CL initially, I know that was many years ago but I think it's because they are were focused on their bread and butter until they know they have the tools to do both well.

I'd love to go deep in the CL but if someone asked me now I'd much rather a title challenge with some domestic success because it's a sign we've made significant progress and something to build on. A CL journey isn't really something you can build on, especially if domestically you aren't at it.

Would like to see some rotation or reaction from the manager. Many games this season we've surrendered the midfield irrespective of how much Holbj and Benta run around or try and link. So i'd like to see a personnel change to see if that changes things, or a formation change to holt the problem.

We can acknowledge that things haven't clicked just yet, especially with linking to the forwards, but 'error carried forward' would really piss me off this eve. Even if Conte is persisting to see it click properly.

For whatever reason, the excitement just isn't there any more for me. Even getitng nervous before the game saturday, 10 minutes in i'm thinking, perhaps i should go mow the lawn. I can't put myself through this, then we equalised and it all changed. 5 minutes into the 2nd half, again I'm thinking i need to stop watching this, for the good of my own health.

Tonight could be similar, you can see how well we're going to play after just 10 minutes, a few misplaced passes and Kane skying one into row z instead of passing, it's all too much of a muchness. There doesn't seem to be the fluid football we expect. He needs to change it up to stop us becoming too predictable. Drop Kane, lets see what happens, play 3 in midfield, can't do any worse, play Doherty/Spence, again can't be a hinderance. Change the system, show us you can be flexible. We're becoming the England of the Premier League.

Club really needs a win tonight. Could do with the big players - Kane, Son, Romero particularly - raising their performance levels.

I'm starting to wonder if they are looking at the world cup on the horizon and don't want to get injured. Their recent performances suggest it. I hope not, we need them to perform well.

We’ll slap them, 3-0. A proper 'the Champions are coming through' performance, and Conte will cup his hand to his ear, a la Mourinho. We'll lose to Brighton.

Do I watch the game or do I put on my crotchless Lederhosen, latex Boris Johnson mask and walk around Tesco playing the spoons and singing 'Gertcha'

I haven't seen Frankfurt play since the Europa Final, so I know nothing about their style this season. Looks like they've started the season poorly but managed to put together a run of results, so maybe a point wouldn't be the worst result.

That late Sporting defeat has really fucked us. Complexion of the group would be completely different had we not invited them on in the last 10-15 minutes trying to escape with a 0-0.
Not sure how 1 defeat has completely fucked us
