Can arsenal really not see the shiteness that’s playing in their defence, baffles me they’re spending that much not on defenders

Can't see why Palace would sell for anything other than an absolutely massive fee. I could honestly see them holding out for more even if Arsenal come in for £70m. They've stubbornly refused to deal for anything less than mega money for the past three summers, so with Zaha under contract until 2023 I can't see them softening their stance now.

With the AWB money and a fairly standard net spend on top of it they should be able to bring in three or four promising signings. That should enable them to build a much more complete squad and move away from being the one-man team they've been for years now.

They'd be far better off building the foundation of the post-Zaha team over the course of this season and then building upon it after selling him next summer. Looking at Fulham last season, us after we sold Bale or Pool after they sold Suarez it's clear that completely reinventing your squad in one window carries massive risk.

They don't need the money and Zaha's under a long-term contract, so I just don't see where a sale makes any sense from their perspective unless Arsenal are willing to pay over the odds.

With his brother saying please palace let my brother join his childhood club to play European football (note he can’t say champions league like zaha said) can we not close 5his thread as he’s clearly not going to sign for us now even if we had once been interested? The views on here were hardly positive before knowing he’s a goon...

He'd likely still sign for us if we agreed a fee for him.

He may have supported them as a kid but he's a professional footballer at the end of the day. He still played a blinder against his beloved Arsenal a few weeks ago.

I get the feeling that a £40 million bid for a £70 million rated player is the kind of thing a club does when they don't want to actually buy the player, but want to make it publicly look like they "tried their best". I'm really hoping that's the case, and that Zaha and his family have started to wreck this plan by using their own forms of pressure. He's very good but not what they need at all.

Take with a bath of salt but seeing as Ornstein and Sky both mentioned it could get ugly, Sky are suggesting he might refuse to train.

Pitiful ?.
Arsenal want to sign a defender, who can attack but can’t defend and who they can’t afford. So they won’t be able to buy a defender.
Palace are already rolling in money from AWB sale and they owe 25% of any Zaha money they get, so they won’t sell cheap.
We and others might have been interested but now Zaha’s brother yells out the news that he’s a childhood gooner and his heart is set on them.
Palace want £75m.
Gooners offer thirty million pounds less lol. Because then, maybe, they can find a cheap forward, who can’t attack but maybe he can defend?
They deserve each other.

I don't get why the scum are trying so hard to sign him, it's the one area of the pitch where they don't need to fix. I've never been too interested in signing Zaha for the kind of money being spoken about. Someone like Lo Celso appeals to me much more.

Say what you want about the Sun but they do have some brilliant sub editors

Yeah they’ve always had the best headline writers.

With Ashton being a Palace fan he was never going to miss the chance to poke ridicule on arsenal with this one. I suspect he will be taking the reigns on it and there could be more amusement to follow with any luck.
