Say what you want about the Sun but they do have some brilliant sub editors

Neil Ashton wrote the article - make of that what you will

Btw, I originally thought the twitter link was a fake...a funny fake, but a fake nonetheless.

Then I checked the Sun's official site...:LOL::LOL::LOL:

I get the feeling that a £40 million bid for a £70 million rated player is the kind of thing a club does when they don't want to actually buy the player, but want to make it publicly look like they "tried their best". I'm really hoping that's the case, and that Zaha and his family have started to wreck this plan by using their own forms of pressure. He's very good but not what they need at all.
IMHO it's exactly what they need. They need wide attackers. Two probably. And two center backs. Probably new right back and left back as well. Also, Ramsey is gone so they need new CM. And another one probably cause Xhaka is shit. Oh and Ozil, someone to replace him cause his useless. So yeah, unless Emery is magician or they throw 500mln on transfers they won't be our rivals this season. With or without Zaha.

Think they may end up with him in the end, sell someone and waste all their money on a player they don't really need ahead of other positions. And another ridiculously high earner too
He's never really turned in impressive season stats considering he's palaces main man

Don't Man Utd get 20% of any sell-on fee for Zaha?

So if Arsenal bid £40m, then Palace get £32m.

£32m for their prized asset?

Unless palace were smart and sold Aaron Wan-Bissaka to United cheaper with the sell on fee for Zaha removed?! As he was tipped to go for over 70 million at one point

Apparently the clause did not get removed, and some reports say it is actually 25%. A 40m bid will have Palace laughing/fuming.

If he’s a childhood Gooner fan and wants to join his club, he shouldn’t have signed the two contract extensions at Palace.

I think he’s panicking now because, as the years go by, there are less chances of him playing in a top six club.

The transfer of AWB has really brought him back to reality on the mistakes he had done previously.

Maybe arsenal want him because of VAR. He gets fouled a lot and in the area next season virtually any touch will bring about a penalty. It’s the kind of sneaky underhand thing they’d do.

Arsenal might need defenders, but how many times did we beat them last season? And how far behind us did they finish? Pride, fall etc....

He's a bloody good player too.

This whole story is a bit odd though. Something doesn't quite fit.

I mean we were apparently getting quoted £70m+ for the past two years but didn't bite - and he's improved again over the last year.

Why would you bid £40m after his rookie team mate has just moved for more?

Makes no sense at all, unless Arsenal know something no one else seems to know.

I saw a rumour Ath Madrid wanted talks with Lacazette. That's the only way I can see them being able to fund the players they've been linked with.

Would love us to hijack this, he can play upfront or on either wing. Could improve his game with us like how Mane did when he left Saints.

Initially i thought he'd be a decent signing for us when we were first linked 2 seasons ago. Since then the chip on his shoulder seems to have grown even larger and i can't remember a Palace game i watched when he wasn't involved in a bust up with an opposing player. Sure, he gets fouled a lot, but so did Hazard and he didn't react as poorly as Zaha. Think he'd be a perfect fit for the Gooners in their 5th/6th pace battle next season but i wouldn't want him now, we've progressed past him, we're quite capable of attracting younger, far better players than Zaha these days.
