Lay off Kaboul, he's young and been thrown in the deep end big time in a new league... He has the ability to become a very good defender.
As for Woodgate, looks to me like a Ramos influenced signing, he would know him well enough from Spain, his reputation and of course his injury worries, but he passed our medical and if he stays fit he will be an excellent signing for us.

Kaboul will be a fine player.
It took Vidic, and the arsenal players time to bed in over here.
Give him to at least until next year.

Transfer policy is fine, we needed cover at the back and thats what we are getting.

I was under the distinct impression that he has a shin injury which would take a couple more weeks to clear.

It also appears from what we have heard that the triumvirate of Levy, Comolli and Ramos is far more equal than the triumvirate of Levy, Comolli and Jol when it comes to which players to buy. Ramos has already said he has vetoed 6 to 8 potential signings and nothing has told me that Jol had the authority to do that. As ever, we never truly know for certain what goes on behind the scenes but it does appear Ramos ultimately gives the green light for transfer negotiations to commence, and then it is up to mainly Levy to handle the commercial aspects.

Players are often 'injured' before they make a transfer. That way they can be dropped from the preceeding game without a fuss. Of course however this is Woodgate.

There are very few central defenders of Woodgates standard worldwide and we aren't yet a big enough draw to secure ones without injury or other blemishes .

In order to break into the top-4 we are going to have to splash some serious money in a short period of time and accept that not all of it will have the desired effect .

Remains to be seen what the guys attitude is like for us .

Not really the point, is it? people bang on about Bent, but most expected Defoe and Mido to leave, and therefore he was the perfect replacement. They bang on about his 'shit' signings (a 22 year old LB, who's hardly had a chance to bed-in and a 21 year old CB who's been thrown into the mix of one of the toughest leagues in the world) but don't seem to give him credit for landing Berbatov for £10m (now worth £25m+), Bale (who could''ve had his head turned by United), Gunter and Malbranque (who quite frankly were steals)

Berbatov moved to us because of Jol. Not because of Comolli.

Bale is his country's youngest goalscorer - hardly an unknown entity?

Gunter - who knows?

Steedo - hardly an unknown.

His ability to find kids is all judged in the future. No we can't give him any credit for the already-made-its, because quite frankly I expect anyone in football could have told you Steed Malbranque was quite good.

I will judge Comolli on his findings in a couple of years. So that's not letting him off the hook, it's just judgment pending.

1And as an answer to originaly question ... both. No player comes without agreement from all.

Ramos: Find me a defender with Prem experience.
Levy: Preferably English.
Comolli: Woodgate?
Ramos: Do it.
Levy: Doing it.

I don't think you can pin every signing on one particular person, but for each I'm sure the relative inputs differ greatly. Its obvious that players like Kaboul and Zokora were primarily down to Commolli, and to a lesser extent players like Bale and Gunter.

Woodgate is well known to everyone in the game, so I doubt any one man takes primary responsibility for his signing, I think it was most likely a group decision between the 3 big cheeses.

Simple really. 6 months from now if Woodgate has been a roaring success then he is Ramos' signing. If he has hardly kicked a ball due to injuries, then it is Comolli's stupid, misinformed signing. That will be the case on this board anyway...

Thats exactly the case on here unfortunately.

Any good player we have bought is a Ramos/Jol signing. Any player thats not is Comolli.

Yeah it does seem like that unfortunately.
Woodgate isn't a Ramos or a Comolli signing really, I can't see how you can credit an individual with the discovery of a 28 year old england international. He's not exactly an unknown, and it was probably common knowledge that we was potentially available. They all agree that he's worth a sniff, so we try our luck.

And yet surely some rep for bringing these "already known" players to our club, no? really?

Why do we have to bring everything down to single people just to prove our opinon about whichever one of the management team is a 1) pratt 2) useless tosser 3) hero 4) diamond geezer?

For the record I am pretty chuffed with the Woodgate signing and with DL & DC for getting him.
