Was England's best player at the Euro's, and is excellent as a purely holding and screening 6.

Don't think there was much to choose between him an Rice back then. Move to City was a bad one for him but there's no shame in not being able to displace Rodri. He was very good in Bielsa's all action Leeds team.

Great news to hear we have Plan A through J on the forward front. Definitely need some support there, in my opinion, but just want to make sure that Plan J option is just as good of a fit for our future squad development. Think that's the tricky part.

I'm not sure "Assessing an extensive list" 12 days before the window opens means we have plan A through to J in place at all tbh.

So we have plenty of options, isn't that always the case though? Our trouble is what happens when we decide on one, we drag it out more often than not

Ange has made it pretty clear he wants business done early. See if Levy pays any attention I guess and whether he can release his grip on the purse strings this time. Surely he can see that Ange has to be supported.

Also if we have 10 attacking targets and one is Jota and another is Gimenez then I’m not really sure if we want a WF or a CF.

Could also be the fact that we have Son who can play as a LW or CF in this system, Johnson who has played LW/RW and could even play centrally and then you have Richy who while he is in good form could be sold to a Saudi club. More or less it may just be us actually coming up with contingency options dependent upon how dominos may fall and who is actually available in January. Given all those variables, a 10 player list is probably par for the course, really. And I don't think it's just they cobbled together a list, and are now actually saying "right, who's it going to be, then?" At least I hope not.

Worrying for 2 reasons.

One, I don't think Gimenez is good enough.

Two, surely we should have a specialised list of wingers who will bring the skillset we are so desperately lacking out wide, namely a 1v1 specialist who is comfortable going both ways.

Long term we clearly need both a striker AND at least 1 winger (2 imo because I believe Son should be used centrally and Deki should be used in midfield most of the time).

I’ve got a longer list than that of “birds I’d like to” but doesn’t make them options. Hope we’ve actually made contact on a few…

Also mentions tosin could still be an option (but sounds like guesswork based on contract and the fact we were interested in summer) also Giminez as striker with interest in Richarlison in Saudi

Also says centre back is priority

Tottenham step up defender hunt with Genoa's Radu Dragusin a target

Tottenham are set to step up their pursuit of a centre-back in January and have looked at Genoa’s Radu Drăgușin as a possible target.

Drăgușin, 21, helped the Italian club get promoted to Serie A last season and was watched by Spurs scouts last week against former club Juventus on the same night Ange Postecoglou’s team defeated Nottingham Forest.

Postecoglou’s priority in the mid-season market is a centre-back, with Micky van de Ven currently out injured with a thigh problem and Ben Davies, usually a left-back, playing in the middle during recent matches.

Drăgușin is highly regarded at Spurs and signed for Juventus in 2018 under Fabio Paratici, who later joined Tottenham and worked as managing director of football before resigning in April. The Romania international’s agent, Florin Manea, has been quoted saying there is interest from Spurs and that early discussions have taken place.

After loans at Sampdoria and Salernitana, Drăgușin also had a season long deal at Genoa which was made permanent in the summer after he helped them reach the top flight. He is expected to cost £26 million should he move in the January window.

Spurs looked at centre-back in the summer and landed Van de Ven from Wolfsburg in Germany. They also monitored Tosin Adarabioyo, with Fulham now braced for more enquiries with the player entering the last six months of his contract.

Adarabioyo, 26, is yet to agree a new deal at Craven Cottage after three-and-a-half years at the club and could leave on a free transfer at the end of the campaign. He could come into the thinking for clubs attempting to bolster their squads next month with a centre-back. Monaco were also interested in him during the summer.

Feyenoord striker Santiago Gimenez is also on Spurs’ radar and there could be a slot for a forward as there is interest from clubs in Saudi Arabia in Richarlison, although a centre-back is the priority for the club when the transfer window opens.

“We’ve got to get the right person. It’s not just about bringing another body in, it’s about getting the right one in and hopefully that’ll happen,” Postecoglou told Sky Sports last week.

Dragusin was scouted and signed by Don Paratici in 2018 from the Romanian side for 250k. He also gave Dragusin's contract extension in 2021 when in Juve.
If we end up getting him now, thats a confirmation that he is still pulling the strings from behind
