I'd sign him, because need to start planning for when Kane leaves. But, knowing Levy, that won't happen until three years after he's left.

I know it's likely to happen sooner or later, especially with how much of a mess we are in, but it feels awful even contemplating him leaving, especially if he does so without any silverware :(

Maybe they see a season free of European football as a chance to solely focus on the domestic side of it and try to actually win the league.

Optimistic I know but we've seen the likes of Leicester do it.

I like your optimism but unless there's massive investment in the squad, tackling all the key areas we need to strengthen with genuine quality and depth, I really can't see how an already stale squad is going to compete with the brilliance of Liverpool and City.

To be fair, I think you could make a case that we need players in every single position at this point. Quality, hungry footballers who are taking a step up by coming to Tottenham.

Luckily for us, we've completely ran him into the ground so we've probably already seen the best if him. Unlucky Madrid.

I’m sorry but I don’t buy the argument that his goals and assists output isn’t good enough. He plays for crystal bloody palace! One of the constantly lowest scoring teams in the premier league, were he is double teamed every time he touches the ball.
You can’t compare him to Hazard who plays with world class players around him or Ziyech who plays in team who dominates in a second tier league every year (Ajax 119 goals last year, Palace 51).
I wouldn’t pay 80m for him, but i would snap their hand off for 50m for a player who would be an instant upgrade on Lamela and Lucas

Agreed with everything apart from the last sentence, we have other areas on the pitch that would be better spent on with £50m

“During his time in charge at Arsenal, George Graham used to say that the key to building a team was to buy players who were on the way up — or, alternatively, players who were desperate to prove a point — but to avoid those who might see your club as a soft landing, a comfort zone. “Never buy a player who’s taking a step down to join you,” Graham said. “He will act as if he’s doing you a favour.”

It's an interesting argument from GG. There are a few examples that work out- van de Vaart, for one, can't think of many others. Depends on stage of career as well though. Also it may not be a bad thing if they act like they're doing you a favour- Davids had that attitude but it was generally quite positive in raising standards.

Buying Zaha would be exactly the same as what Arsenal have done recently, i.e. buying players they really don't need whilst ignoring huge issues elsewhere in their playing staff. The writing is on the wall on this one.

If we address the issue areas, then zaha is a player that would improve us. Yes we have a few players in the attacking midfield area, but would be ahead of moura as inconsistent, Lamala (only because he is mostly injured) and would only be behind Son who would play on the other wing.

But if we need the money spent in the other areas and can't get zaha as well, then agree shouldn't happen.

Just fucking buy a decent CDM, and a RB. Possibly a CB to replace the newly demented Jan.

But please don’t go near this shit until we’ve dealt with the bigger issues.

It’s like owning an aircraft company whose planes keep crashing into the mountain. You change the flight path first. Then you might want to look at sprucing up the pilots, but deal with the bigger issue first or the same shit will keep happening

“Never buy a player who’s taking a step down to join you,” Graham said. “He will act as if he’s doing you a favour.”

How is leaving palace to join a CL level club a "step down"?

He failed at the last big club he joined (United) - his next move will define him. He has a point to prove

Not saying I want us to sign him, but he'd be an improvement over Moura in terms of team play in my opinion.
