People are bringing up Ziyech as a comparison which I'm not really keen on. I don't see them as similar players personally. Ziyech is a left footed, more creative player that if we signed him I would want him to play as a narrow right midfielder, making him arguably more central, with an overlapping RB. I'd view Ziyech as a replacement for Eriksen in many ways and more similar to Lamela than anyone else in our squad.

Zaha is a proper winger/forward with flair, speed and trickery. Tends to play off the left more than anything else and is most effective there. If we signed him then I'd see him starting left wing with Son on the right and have them swap throughout the game.

I'm not against it but his value is closer to 50/60m than the madness Palace have previously been asking for and I'd also want us to try and offload a player to them to lessen what we'd paid for Wilf.

Ultimately though we have more pressing needs in other areas. Look at Zaha in the summer if we must.

Yeah, I’m not understanding the hate for Moura. To me he looks like he gives a shit and has been a spark in several games
You don't have to hate Moura to see that Zaha is a better player: more consistent and more dangerous.

My comment wasn’t a comparison with Zaha, just a general observation from lots of comments. Moura doesn’t get much love in some quarters.

Zaha is a good player who happens to play in the same position as one of our best players. If we want to strengthen, he would strengthen the squad. He’s not consistent enough to be world class, but we might see that consistency if he joins Spurs.

I think he's only being mentioned alongside Zaha because he's another attacker who is seemingly available and is a better player. I agree they arent different. If anything Ziyech is needed more because of his position as you suggested.

I agree its not a pressing need but if Ziyech is available I'd go for him. He's got another level in him, while i am not sure Zaha has.

Moura is a great squad player and gives his all, but for me he really lacks a footballing brain and is detrimental to our play. He doesn't get any assists (I think he has just one since he joined!) despite playing with the likes of Kane, Son and Dele. He never seems to be on anyone elses wavelength and tends to just put his head down and run into dead ends.

Individual ability is off the charts which is why every now and then he makes a telling contribution but for the most part he is detrimental to our play.

Zaha doesn't put great numbers up for Palace but they are not a free flowing side. He is however heads and shoulders their best player and terrifies defenders. The combination of pace, power and trickery is very dangerous, even when double and triple teamed. He can also take pressure off of the defence by being an out-ball and winning fouls or starting counters with his dribbling. Kane-Son-Zaha would have a bit of everything IMO. Not that I think we'd pay the price for him.

Re visiting this - looks yet another scatter gun approach to a window.

Spurs need to be far far more clinical in what they are looking for.

Can't believe the figure quoted. From Bowen to Zaha in five days - mental.

I find it interesting that you think Zaha would coast if he came to Spurs. He's already paid significant wages, is at his home club where he is loved and is now risking things turning sour there just to further his career and prove himself at CL level. Surely that is a sign of ambition is it not?

I totally get why some would prefer Ziyech regardless of the price, I'd be delighted with either, although obviously neither a priority.

I've looked and I was wrong. However he has had a solitary assist in each PL campaign he has played for us. 4 in the FA Cup and one in the CL (Olympiakos, the only one I can remember of note). Bit part player or not, they are poor figures.

Working with Jose, Zaha would go onto a different level,

We need a total rebuild, not just at the back or midfield.

I wouldn't call moura a bit part player when he has banged in a good few goals once he was being played consistently and he also played up front. Both are quite different players though so the comparison is daft. As for consistency Zaha has done well in the last few seasons , he would certainly be a great player to have and would provide something different in the attacking third.

It's a question of priorities though. Competition for Son/Moura is about as far down the list as you can get.

When they would likely be competing for the same position in the team, surely a comparison is relevant? Even if they have differing strengths and weaknesses.

I doubt he’s anything close to a priority. Especially now that Sissoko’s hurt. We’ll focus on CM, CB and RB if we intend to strengthen.

According to my fantasy team he is very inconsistent!

I'm not sure about this transfer, on one hand it would be nice to have a player who can drive at defences with pace and skill....but on the other hand, I've seen him several times this season and he can go 2-3 games without even touching the ball. Having said that, Palace are dreadful. I just fear we need a couple defenders and CDM much more than we need Zaha.....its papering over some serious cracks if we get him and ignore the rest of the issues within the team.

According to the guy who seems to be a Tottenham correspondent on Sky transfer centre (can't think of his name), despite all the press reports, we're not going after Zaha.
