Weren't the English press saying Bale wasn't moving even as we were buying players with that money?
It was a mixed bag that summer, with contrary stories running within and between sections of the press. In hindsight it was obvious what was really happening but at the time it was unclear because of the varying accounts

The press are flying in a completely different direction with both Zaha and Grealish to the ITK, so lets see.

I am also very suspicious that Palace, who haven't spent a penny all summer, suddenly have 3-4 signings lined up at 10 odd mil a piece and are prepared to sign a costly free agent.

Exactly my thoughts. They are not a spendthrift club either. Something very strange is going on with this one.

Interesting fact ... Agent of Zaha also represents 2 players that are strongly linked with a move to Palace in Antonio and Kouyate

And same agent as one of our own Kane

Seeing as Palace supposedly didn't have much money at all for transfers according to Hodgson a couple weeks ago, I doubt they've suddenly gone on a massive splurge without some money coming into the club (Zaha deal)

Makes sense to me as well.

They are spending there money before a big sale. Exactly what we did so people don't drain all the cash straight away. Unless they have got these players cheap something is a miss there

One of the ITK's mentioned that Zaha's agent absolutely loves both DL and Poch.

Quite amusing that some Palace fans are slagging off Spurs for supposedly making a 45 million pound bid, whilst at the same time calling the Sun a 'rag' and casting doubt on the accuracy of the story. Which is it?

Idiots.

How dare Spurs attempt to purchase a player in the proper manner. Why are they not trying to tap him up and getting him to force a move?

Here's the piece from July with quotes from Hodgson. Read like they were proper skint and waiting for the loan market to open. Does not suggest they would be going on a spree.

Meyer is a free but his wages are inflated and I bet the signing on bonus is at least £5m. Ayew and Kouyate are likely to be £10m each, plus they still have links to Ings and Antonio amongst others.

Antonio i saw was 15m and im sure liverpool would look for the same with ings....

They also seem to be ignoring the plus £15m part. Stopped my Palace mate in his tracks a little bit when I mentioned that. I think they know £60-70m is the magic number.

Gards provided an update re his previous itk about 2 bids. Seems like he has since heard different.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the accepted bids are from Dortmund and ourselves. The lower price tags floating around (£40m ish) makes sense to be from a club abroad

This window has beaten us so far into submission to the point that we’re all desperate for Zaha. Jesus christ, Tottenham. Well played, Poch.

Maybe people rate Zaha more than you? He'd have been on my attacker shortlist before the window even opened (with Martial and Pulisic).
