What's new

Who would you replace Avb with if you had the chance?

:(

It would be very risky employing him though as he's never been in charge of a big club. We don't know how he'd counter the teams that come here to just park the bus and play for a point.

We are not adverse to risk though are we! We would happily bring in Avb, Who should of been considered a big risk, Given that he did not really set the world on fire at Chelski ;)

Seriously though, it's time to cast the net for a new one. I know football, and I've been patient, but he's falling short, again and again. The Emperor is naked. I watch football for fun. It's not a job. Nobody dies. It's just entertainment, like a burlesque show but with ripped young men good at keepy-uppy instead of hot chicks in giant martini glasses. I'm not entertained.

This thread is a joke.

Care to elaborate? What would you regret if Levy gave Avb his p45 now? Those wonderful nights of CL football? The free-flowing football and the way we scared teams at white hart lane.....Oh wait! It is not about having a knee jerk reaction either, It is about having enough balls to say that Avb will NOT make us what we want to be!

Harry Redknapp earned his time at our club and if Harry could get us playing the way he did, Then it is only logical to assume why Avb can't!

He had won trophies though, setting records as the youngest manager to win a european cup ever, so you can see the appeal.

Harry also took until mid-January to get a team made up of new players actually working. Remember being 17th at Christmas? I certainly do.

Too early for even thinking about this. avb has done well overall. but his real test starts now... does he have the hubris and foresight to change tactics that clearly aren't working? If not, he will be sacked in the summer, as results won't change. He needs to tinker with his tactics, admit when they are wrong and imbue a sense of adventure in the players again. Caution is killing us right now. He needs to shake things up and try something new. If he doesn't, I really don't fancy his long term chances.

No one we could realistically get could

No point even thinking about the likes of Klopp, more chance of Susan Boyle winning Miss World than there is Klopp taking charge

Bringing twitch back would be pointless, he was reason we didn't make CL in his last season, he also since then took QPR down and isn't exactly setting championship alight

Who do you want that could do a better job?

I'd leave it until summer if AVB was'nt working out unless there was a total collapse & found ourselves being cut adrift & then if needed I'd appoint either Sherwood,Fruend or Hoddle to see out the season.
Then I'd draw up 2 lists 1 of experienced managers
Cesare Prandelli
Luis Van Gal
Carlo Ancellotti
Fatih Terim
Glenn Hoddle
Then a list of younger managers
Pochetino
Slaven Bilic
Michael Laudrop
Yakin ( Basle )
With the Baldini factor i'd probably opt for prandelli

You are kidding me right!! This was when he took over from Ramos and was a Totally different situation! And we were a couple of points away from 11th! It is not about the signings this time around, It is about how Avb wants to play and that is what is hurting the team now.

Wouldnt mind de boer or yakin. Both play excellent football.

Hiddink would be fantastic if he still has the hunger.

Prandelli - Can he speak English?
Van Gal - The players would go on strike inside a week, autocratic is understatement
Ancelotti - Why would he leave biggest job in football to come to us?
Terim - Can he speak English?
Hoddle - Been out of club management for years
Pochetino - See what he does next year, too early
Bilic - Never managed a club
Laudrup - Doing shit atm at Swansea

Really, it's not about signings huh? Despite us signing/fielding almost an entirely new attacking unit this season who don't know each other and have almost all had to adjust to a new country and league? Still not about new signings?

It's almost EXACTLY the same situation Harry stepped into, and it's EXACTLY the same problem that we had when he started the job - our attack is misfiring horribly from the midfield forward.

I mean do you just straight up not want to remember the horrifyingly bad shit we played under Harry for the first few months? One 4-4 against the Scum doesn't change the fact we were playing badly.

Prandelli- yes he can
Van Gal - BS.. players will do as there told, you can't argue with his success
Ancellotti- will he be Real manager next yr u never know with Madrid, I included him on the chance he might not be so it would be if he was available
Fatih Terim. - he does speak english
Hoddle - I included on basis of if he came in on temporary badis till end of season & done ok
Pochettino- I like what I'be seen of him last season & so far this & if he can keep that up for rest of season he'd be worth considiring
Bilic - has managed at club level he's lokomotiv coach & besides he's proven himself to be very tactically astute with Croatia
Laudrup - i dont think u can say he's not doing a good job at swansea quiet the contrary there still in pole position to qualify in uefa group & they don't have anywhere near as strong as squad as us.. I would worry about how he would get on with levy though
