Honestly... Am I allowed to start a thread about this?

What has Modric done for the past 6 months? Somebody please tell me what he has done. He doesn't look like he give two shits and I bet he cant wait to pull on the Chelsea/Utd shirt.

Someone back him up... Someone tell me we need him and he makes us tick as a team. Someone tell me with out him we would of lost half our games.

He needs to be dropped to the bench and have someone else start in his place. 40 million sounds pretty good if you ask me. Such a poor performance from everyone today but for 'one of the best midfielders' in the Premier League? He hasn't and didn't do anything and thats been the truth for the past 6 months.

Defoe wants to know why he doesn't start? Because he doesn't offer what Saha for example does. Saha fought for everything when he came on, well done to him.

Walker is off form, always taking to twitter and saying 'he's disappointed and will bounce back' He said that against Arsenal, Utd and Stevenage...

Adebayor cannot control a ball to save his life and not only that but he never seems bothered to hurry back onside, ready for the next wave of attack.

This isn't a thread based on todays emotion, its how I've been feeling for the past month and Modric, the last few. This is what I think and it's my opinion, agree or not its up to you but I cannot believe we work so hard and then we lose 3 on the bounce. Yes, good sides but the position we were in against Arsenal and Utd was very good but we didn't take it.

I honestly feel that ever since Harry has been touted for the England spot. Its unsettled everyone... Including Redknapp. If we drop out of the top 4, it would be one of the hardest things I would ever have to deal with.

We need Arsenal to drop points and hopefully invigorate some belief into the boys. Please please please Redknapp, work something out!

Agree 100%. Modric was OK at the start of the season, great player no doubt, but his concentration was well and truly snapped when Corluka left, looks like losing his friend has completely turned him around. Doesn't deserve to start in current form.

Bale has gotten way to cocky, thinks he's Messi when he's playing like a table fodder inverted winger. 40 yard shots, fuck off.

Defoe is a good cup starter, doesn't offer anything besides a shooting gallery though.

Redknapp is so tactically limited.

Redknapp should be fired.

He's the worst manager we've ever had.

Modric is crap. He shoots like a girl.

Adebayor is worse than Crouch.

Bale is just a shit Ziegler.

Ledley is a glorified Ricardo Rocha.

VdV should be sold and replaced with Tom Carroll.

This is worst Spurs squad I've ever seen.

I've got a feeling that Harry is managing England in his head and doesn't really give a shit about winning anything more with us. I hope I'm wrong and that it's just a dip in form, but we need to go back to 4-5-2/4-2-3-1 immediately or we'll give 3rd place to Arsenal and risk giving up 4th to Chelsea.

Stoke at home and Chelsea away will be tough as nails, but we desperately need two back-to-back wins or I've got a feeling we'll be out of the CL race.

It's hard to say exactly how much the England speculation has played a factor in our poor run of form, as you say they are good sides we have played.

As for Modric he has played out of position for the last 2 matches so don't think he's ever going to look as effective, his form has dipped for sure but so has the whole teams doubt it's a lack of effort on his part I think 3-4 games ago we were still within touching distance of the top2 so don't think players would just stop trying with that in mind.

Walker is a young full-back and has been one of our best players all season, he's allowed a game or 2 where he's not at his best.

It seems a lot of us agree on here tactically Harry has got it wrong recently but also perhaps the England thing looming over us may have played a part behind the scenes, who knows.

And yes dropping out of the top4 after being 10 pts clear really would be hard to take-mabye worse than lasangegate.

The win against the mighty Stevenage didnt paper over any cracks as far as im concerned. We've been poor for a while now and Everton away is never ever gonna be a gimme in anyway shape or form.

The team selection was baffling, the lack of subs in the second hald was just as bizarre. 3rd is more or less gone im afraid, we just have to concentrate on getting 4th, this means that a draw at cheatski will actually be an ok result.

Squeeky bum time for sure

We are a shambles Harry and the team have completely lost their way. This just ain't good enough I'm afraid there will be no champions league for us harry must go.

Our football since the New Year has been poor and certainly Modric hasn't been the player he was or can be. Luck isn't going our way on the pitch, hitting posts and having goals disallowed, however, as winning is a habit and we were good at it before Christmas, losing is a habit as well. If we finish in the top four it will be brilliant, but I'm not confident to be honest!

Simply this.

1. We set our hearts on winning the premier league. Defoe missing in the last minute against City and then conceeding a penalty has crushed the team. Their dream had died and they've lost motivation.

2. We're in a particular difficult run of games. City, United, Arsenal, etc.

3. Redknapp speculation has unsettled the players. Who is going to come in? Do I have a future here?

The only way round it is for King, Parker, etc to call a group meeting and refocus the players for finishing 3rd.

I think the overall team performance is what is making Modric look bad. The team lacks shape and his teammates are not making intelligent runs and getting into space so he is forced to rush a more difficult pass and loses the ball.

This is what separates Modric from truly world class midfielders, in my opinion. When we're seeing a lot of the ball and playing well, he's fantastic, but honestly, has he ever taken a match by the scruff of the neck when we're playing badly and turned it around? I can't think of any off the top of my head. Van der Vaart on the other hand isn't maybe as aesthetic as Modric but he's a leader and capable of winning games single-handedly.

I buy that and would add a delayed hangover from Harry getting acquitted .

We definitely need our senior players to stand up and be counted .

We have good record at Goodison and had the lions share of possession today but people actually a win are getting a little bit ahead of themselves .

A decent performance if disappointing result .

What are people expectations though ?

BAE is a great player and has given us loyal service .
Layton Baines is a bit better , perhaps the best leftback in the league .

Are we really at the stage where we could spend an absolute fortune upgrading a non-priority position ? Perhaps we should as this would take us another player closer to establishing that "critical mass" of winners .

Or do we just enjoy our team for what it is ?

Modric used to have that single-minded desire to win at any cost before Christmas but has been cruising ever since .

I don't think his heart is at Tottenham any more .

We either have to :-
- replace him with a player who wants to be here
- sign enough world class players to establish a critical mass of winners so Modric will want to stay here

 This post is the joke.

We have no automatic right to 4th and as it stands we are gonna slip out of the CL running if current trends - us on the down and chels and scum on the up - continue.

This situation is certainly no joke.
