What would happen to Arsenal if Wenger left?

Ok chaps, do we think Arsenal could cope without Wenger if he left, say, at the end of the season?

I know it seems highly unlikely he'd choose to at the moment, but as we all know football's a funny old game, a week's a long time in football etc etc [insert cliche here].

I mean, he could be run over tomorrow.

So, do we reckon Arsenal would continue to do well, or they'd fall apart?

Or maybe they'd manage to get a great manager in who'd take them further? Or maybe they'd struggle to find the right man?

Obviously we can't predict the future, but what do you think would happen? Is this our best hope of over-taking them?

The police have a sex offenders register. They could always consult that for a like for like replacement.

Personally i think they would do better without him as he only focuses on the future and not the present, hence the lack of trophy.

But, also personally, i want them to crash and burn

A lot depends on how much money they actually have available. There aren't many managers like Wenger who would be able to turn a massive profit in transfer fees and still deliver success. Most new managers at a big club would expect to be able to spend a few tens of millions when they arrived and then continue to make additions. Would Arsenal be able to do that? Outside the Arsenal boardroom, no-one really knows. They have always said they've had money, as so have Wenger, but it has never been spent. Is that because Wenger wants to be successful purely by bringing younger players through or is it because there isn't really money available?

I can't see them finding a better manager for following their current philsophy but they may bring someone in who is still successful by different means. A new manager could even be more successful if the reason Wenger isn't buying is because of his stubborness to do it his way. However, I can't see another manager coming in and doing better than Wenger. He has been amazing for them. We were so close to them during the Rioch era and the amount they have gone on to achieve since then has been incredible.

Their problem would be the fact that the fancy, one touch, finnesse football they play wouldn't exist.

Thats HIS philosophy of football, they'd need to find a likeminded manager if they would want to remain the attractive footballing side they undoubtedly are.
