Can't believe they cut the scene with John Terry sat in his Bentley in a car park, where a teenager emerges from the foot well grinning and asks 'so what did you actually say to Ledley King?'

A great example is the Jan "assist" for the Son goal. And another example in the past was Tom Carroll's pass to Gareth Bale on the halfway line against West Ham for that goal he scored against them.

If a goalkeeper rolls the ball out to someone who then dribbles past the entire opposition 4 times before putting the ball into the top corner he would get an assist, regardless of what happened afterwards. So assist stats are not necessarily a true reflection.

People wank over stats too much these days, basically. Too many Football Manager obsessed lads who want to prove whatever point they're trying to make with numbers, rather than highlighting actual footballing abilities. "He must be good, he's got 7 assists. Most on the team. " - So yeah, he got 7 assists, but that doesn't take into consideration the 550 opportunities to create a chance which were fucked up by poor execution or decision making.

Also like all those Ozil assists to Ronaldo when at Madrid.

Arsemania on Arteta:

I only just saw the press conference, he oozes so much class and power, he has lifted my spirit only with his words. Can’t ****ing wait!!!

Absolutely loved that press conference. Said it earlier, this feels like the start of something very special. Oh it's gonna be special alright...

Just finished watching his first press conference as Arsenal manager. I have tears in my eyes... Come on Mikel, lead this club back to glory!

Recently, its the up-and-coming managers that have succeeded. **** experience. It's overrated. Mourinho, Zidane, Guardiola etc were not veterans with years of experience when they took the footballing world by surprise. It's now the age of young managers with new ideas taking over.

Arteta knows the Premier League inside out. I'm optimistic. I was against his appointment but looking at it from another angle has got me hyped!

When 11 men play for you anything is possible just look at Leicester and Claudio. I hope Arteta is the type of guy who can turn players like Sokratis and Mustafi into fan favourites.

Definitely gonna bookmark this one for later. Can't wait to see their reactions when they get ruined by Duncan Ferguson's Everton and their Thunderbird character of a manager marches them to 13th place and gets sacked 3 months into next season :ROFLMAO:

From Shed End:

Just went lurking on SC - they're pretty confident.

What's their confidence based on?

The funny thing is, this probably isn't far from the actual minutes of the last AFC board meeting.

Ah bless them. They genuinely think they have pulled off something special here ? reality is, they have just appointed Pep’s ball boy.

He could do well. But it will take time. They're short of money and need a serious squad overhaul. If they give him time though he could be good for them.

We are a bit further on than them at the moment but these are not necessarily linear processes.

We shall see.

It is imperative that we get back into the top 4 though. So we need a loss for them and a win for us to give us some daylight between them and us.

Such a classless small-time club Chelsea - no matter how much they win. Taking the piss out of rival clubs with official videos, snide little comments mugging people off - acting like they haven't been smashed to shit regularly when they've played us in recent years.

Even down to trying to suggest that anyone else around the world gives the slightest fuck about Chelsea and actually talks about their upcoming games.

Absolute bunch of pricks. "The Pride of London" my arse.
I will take an educated guess and say that you do not like Chelsea.

Feck, I've always tried to think what Arteta reminds me of and you nailed it with Thunderbirds.

I'm just having a laugh mate. In the Arsenal thread I posted my honest, boring appraisal of his chances but sometimes you gotta laugh when thei fans are acting like a 37 year old guy with no experience is the second coming of football Jesus. It's also not like I posted it on twitter or facebook like all the "mind the gap" stuff which was just asking for it.
