What are Bostock and Parret to us?

Does anyone know the official position of Dean Parrett and John Bostock, I know they went out on loan and I know Bostock was brought back, I thought Parrett went to PLymouth but there is no mention of him on their website so I wonder if he's back too, even our own SC loan thread isn't showing them out on loan whilst on the official site they are not shown as academy or senior squad players at all.
I guess they are young enough not to need naming in the CL & PL squads but without the reserve team if these young players are not out on loan it seems to me they are nowhere at all and in complete limbo, which doesn't seem right,so does anyone know what I clearly don't?

Dean parret is back at Spurs and has been playing Spurs XI games.
He is now with the England u20's who play a friendly on Wednesday against France at Shrewsbury.

Does that mean they are potentially part of the 1st team squad and may get a game in the first team? I can't help thinking that a Spurs XI is neither fish nor fowl, would they train with the first team? If not what are we offering them?

They are listed as professionals on the offical site and I suppose will be available for further loans.
They are both able to play for the first team as they are u21 so no need to add them to the first team squad list. Weather this will happen I don't know.
They will train mainly with the development squad and called to train with the first team as and when needed.

I didn't see them on the official site when I looked I looked at the first team and the academy but as you say they are listed as proffessionals, still not sure what that offers them if they don't play competitively.

And yet we still like naming two keepers on the bench every now and then...

They aren't academy players (they are no longer Under 18's) and they aren't quite first team squad regulars. Leaves them in a kind of limbo where they (I guess) train with the full squad but get to play in the Spurs XI friendlies that we sporadically have.

Neither of them set the world alight on loan, sadly, I would have thought this summer they themselves will take a look at their situations and consider whether they have it in them to fight for a chance with us or move on.

Very difficult to do so when you are a midfield player and they play long ball, in Parrett's case at Plymouth.

If I was being honest, a drain on the clubs resources.

Well considering Parrett has been included in the England u20's not sure that is a fair comment-entitled to your opinion but I disagree.

Not many if any are getting to play for the first team at present (even those that are talked about regularly.)

True enough. From what little I heard Parrett did ok on loan, would like to see him get a loan to a better footballing outfit. Can't see him getting at a Championship club, truth be told, so it's down to League One again for him. Maybe Orient with the rest of the Spurs boys?

I guess it that my expectations have been raised by Kyle Walker and Steven Caulker's loan reports being very positive. The other young players at the club need to be looking at their performances and look to do something similar. Unfortunately for a lot of young players at Prem clubs it is very cut throat, they either prove their worth (on loan mostly) or get moved on.

I am really pleased for the players that are getting plaudits out on loan that is fabulous.

But just have a look at the positions that all those players play in and see if position, has anything to do with how they are getting on.

Livermore ,Parrett,Mason and Bostock are all engine room players who have been brought up on a passing game in midfield, so going to clubs who bypass their midfield eg lower league clubs will never benefit/assist their development.

Just my opinion.

In fairness I do agree that getting the right club to go out on loan is vital (Townsend going to Ipswich springs to mind as Keane didn't seem to know what to do with him) and in that respect it is a failing of the management (or whoever decides where our players go on loan.) Unfortunately for our young players they are now at a club where the young players will have to really stand out to stand any chance of getting into the first team squad (let alone the match day squad.)

Because 8 grand a month on their wages really effects our finances

 That comment was meant to be a little tongue in cheek and as a well known supermarket says 'every little helps'

Hope their situation out on loan have been difficult and that it isn't an attitude issue as some (most likely without any inside knowledge on the matter) have pointed towards.

What I feel is missing at Tottenham when it comes to youth development is a plan behind the player's development. It just feels like we sign as many we can and hope we strike luck. Is there a progression plan for their inclusion and adjustment to the first team, or are we just throwing them out on loan and hope they float?
Doesn't feel like we're getting the best out of their potential. We have to remember that one part of the learning curve is done through the first team and while some of it is done out on loan, it's essential that it is done in the Premier League and our own team as well. As said above, it's not easy for a young midfielder to go out on loan and hurt his neck watching the ball being hoofed above your head before a 35 year old veteran brute smash into you.

Give reserve football experience and you get a reserve player, give them lower league football and you get just that. Let them have Premier League experience .... ?

If coming through these days, someone like Ledley King could very well have slipped through our fingers. He had his breakthrough due to injuries to others and was far from the finished product when he settled into the team.

Pisses me off and is a disgrace.
I know it is because of late pull outs due to injury,
but surely the best decision is to take one or two youngsters as extra personell in the match day squad. Even being around the first team is beneficial for them.
