No. But see my post above yours for the reasons Harry may have thought it was possible.
bomberH MCFC had made it perfectly clear that they were not gonna sell him on the cheap. AC Milan were trying for well over a month to try and get him via loan/transfer but MCFC were not budging so how on Gods Earth were they gonna give him to us any cheaper....?

Like JJ has said many a time the transfer fee was not a problem for Llorente (£35m) but his wage demand of £140k a week was. Carlos Alberto Tévez earns £200k a week.......

Typical of Harry to deflect blame/attention in this case it's the tight chairmans fault. The fact remains he has presided over a team that was 13 points clear of the 5th place team at one time (Arsenal) to end up being 6 points behind them now and sitting in 5th place. That is a 19 point swing. I may also add that this is the second year in succession where the team has collapsed from Feb-Apr....

So are we supposed to NEVER try then? The fact is that the Tevez situation was different to anything, it's not like we put in a 35m bid for Ronaldo. That's unrealistic. Trying to sign someone who had fallen out with his club, had premiership experience and trying to entice him to a team in the top 3 who were challenging for the title was not completely unrealistic. How can you fault the club for trying? I don't care that Milan were trying and failing, I care that we were trying. I'm quite happy knowing that we made an enquiry, it shows we're looking at the right players even if we didn't get them. Should we not have approached Hazard either just because he'll cost a fortune and demand massive wages, because let's face it, City could pay double his fee and triple his wages. Does that mean we shouldn't try?

I'm all for trying, and we did enquire like a whole other clubs did too including WHUFC , but you have to be realistic in what you go for at the same time. Harry only seems to go for "obvious" players and seems to have a problem thinking outside the box. We have seen 3 strikers come from outside the PL for relative small fees/loans and hit the ground running, we got a injury prone strike and oh we tried for Tevez!!!

Question: Do we delight in making ourselves look fucking stupid. On what planet, in what alternate universe, did that fucking twitching little ---- think that that was ever a goer. And why the need to spout that shit to the papers? He is really pissing me off now. The sooner he goes the better as far as I'm concerned. If only he put as much effort into the team as he does to that shitty red top paper. ahhh I fucking hate him. Rant over. I'm off to have birthday cake with my beautiful little grandson now. Enjoy your weekend all.

The 'obvious' players include Llorente, Hazard, Hulk, Falcao etc. Should we not try for them because they're obvious? As for West Ham going for him, I think we both know that's not worth commenting on. The fact Cisse etc has come in may mean our scouting system isn't the best, or it may mean Newcastle's is excellent. Either way, it's a different matter to what we're discussing here. I think Harry thought Tevez was realistic literally because of the situation, nothing else.

In fairness to Harry, he is entitled to ask the question to Levy in whether he could obtain the services of Tevez as there was so much uncertainty surrounding him and he would have undoubtedly been a quality addition to the side - it's not Harry's fault that a deal couldn't be reached for various reasons, nor for that matter Levy's.

I guess what is getting people's backs up is that he is using this as a way of deflecting criticism for the poor January transfer window which is now coming home to roost. Ultimately though, I've accepted Harry is going/gone and just trying to concentrate on being positive for the remaining four games to make sure we cross the line as a Champions League elect club.

Personally can't see whats wrong with the interview, obviously some journos got wind of the enquiry and asked Redknapp about it. But, as usual, SC goes into melt down, and gets interpreted that he slept with an SC members wife.

I don't think it was possible that we can sign Tevez, but if it was ever a possibility, maybe we could of got the transfer fee sorted, and maybe finalised the deal with either Tevez taking a pay cut, or asking City to fund some of Tevez wages, which isnt an uncommon in a transfer deal.

But like I said, unrealistic but no need to have a hissy fit over it.

I don't have any problem with making a sneaky bid for Tevez, or Redknapp saying so if asked.

I hope we didn't put too many apples in that basket...it was not ever likely to be a goer.

No, no harm in trying at all... That is not the issue here surely?!

The issue here is over the timing of these things and the fact they come across as excuses... Hey, might not be, direct answers to direct questions are fine... But right now it reads a little that way (if only we had signed Tevez).

I think there are enough reasons to give agar a pat on the back over his tenure, but right now is simply not one of those times. Now is the time for HR and players to put their balls on the table and fecking sort it out.

Newcastle lost and arsenal drew... A win against Blackburn and we are back in the mixer, but we must must win.

Anything else is unacceptable.

Redknapp on Tevez, 28/9/11: "It was unbelievable. It’s not fair. It wasn’t right for football. It shouldn’t happen. It can’t happen."

Redknapp on Tevez, 28/9/11: "I wonder what Allison and Summerbee would have thought of seeing a player refuse to play in a CL game."

Redknapp on Tevez, 28/9/11: “What message does that send out to young footballers? It can’t be right.”

Redknapp on Tevez, 27/4/12: “I said to the chairman ‘Can you get me Carlos Tevez?’ It wasn’t possible, but that was my dream."

Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp has confirmed the club failed in an audacious bid to sign Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez in January.
Having fallen out with Roberto Mancini after apparently refusing to come off the bench at Bayern Munich, Tevez went AWOL for three months towards the end of last year and the City boss said the Argentina striker would not play for the club again.
It is not known whether Tevez would have been keen on a move to Spurs, who were then keeping pace with City in the Premier League title race, but a potential deal would not have happened anyway due to the forward's wage demands.
"I said to the chairman 'can you get me Carlos Tevez?'," said Redknapp.
"Daniel made some enquiries, but it wasn't doable. If he could have done it, he would have.
"He (Levy) would have loved Tevez, but it wasn't possible because his wages are £200,000 a week. It's not possible at Tottenham to buy him.
"He is a fantastic player. When he puts a shirt on he doesn't stop running, working, he's enthusiastic, he can play and he can score goals."

Seriously, what is he trying to achieve by revealing this. Why the fuck is Harry telling us this??? What purpose does it serve??
Seriously he was probably asked the question would Tevez have made a difference? Or would you like to have had a player like Tevez come back into the squad like Man City have...

It's never about the message with Harry. It's just about answering the questions that have been asked him. Why make it more than what it is?
