I know this xG thing gets on people's tits but I think if we had been more clinical in games then we wouldn't be in as bad a situation as we are. Plus our defending as been a bit rubbish obviously.

Saw this on Twitter:
Spurs have given up 4 goals from 1.7 xG and scored 3 from 5 xG over the last 3 matches. That'll earn you a crisis conch but the play has been better than the garbage results

Can you translate the above into English? I was never good at maths...

I know you're joking but most that is correct, apart from being "the best".

Obviously we could be playing better atm BUT we are really, really good, we are unlucky at the moment, the media have turned on us after building up so high, we have been unlucky with refs recently and everyone wetting their bed should chill out, we are only 4 points off 4th

So nice post(y)
You world view reminds of a snow flake. A nice, shiny snow flake that's falling though the air, in the direct and warm shine from the spring sun, and whilst doing that, is rocking out to Christmas songs and expecting a white Christmas.

We just need to go back to what we are good at doing like pressing from the front for which lamela is actually very good at despite his haters.

I have a good idea that I think should be quickly implemented. I hope someone from the club reads this and indicates in to MP.
When we have a corner or a free kick around the area. We will be more threatening if we dont bother lining up in the opositions half. Just give the ball straight back to them or kick it out for a goal kick. This will save time as we offer no threat and havent for some time from these scenarios.

xG is expected goals and it measures quality of a chances created.

So if we've conceded 4 goals from 1.7xG that means we've conceded 2 more than we would be expected to have done considering the quality of chances they were scored from.
And we've scored 2 less than we are expected to have done considering the chances we have created.

Or something along those lines anyway.

Basically we haven't been near clinical enough and are conceding sloppy goals

Disappointing considering the year Leicester won the league we were excellent at them.

Watching Man City v West Ham and its like watching us v Watford, Leicester, West Brom. Frustrated by 10 men behind the ball, poor on set plays both for and against, possession too slow, giving away the ball, not creating any chances, players looking off the boil.

They have been that way in their last two games too but managed to get late winners to change the narrative.

That is so true it's depressing. I literally can't be bothered to get excited when we get a set piece.

That's the difference... They know how to cope with it and they KNOW they will.

I'm sure I saw a stat, maybe MOTD that his assist yesterday was his first since the opening weekend.

Eriksen has three goals and four assists in the league this season - yesterday was his first assist since the Chelsea game at Wembley, his other two assists were both in the opening game against Newcastle.

Last season he scored 8 and got 20 league assists, the season before that he scored 6 and got 16 assists - he's quite obviously not "scoring and assisting more this season".

I meant by this point last season. At this stage he had 3 goals 3 assists.

I just spoke to a friend of mine who is connected to the club and knows a lot of the players and apparently Alli wants to leave..more money... and is causing some considerable unrest ...does not surprise me for one... you could tell he was not happy getting subbed today...fuck him..and rose and anyone else ..club is bigger than any player

Whether your information is true or not, whether your mate is bullshitting you or not, whether it seems stupid or the typical bullshit we get at times like these or not, you've passed it on in good faith so I don't see why you deserve the neg reps you're getting. That's not on IMO.

Let's hope he picks up over the Christmas period and kicks on in the new year - he's often been a slow starter after the summer but seems to come into his own once the weather goes sour.

The club is a pretty tight ship, so all this stuff about player unrest seems bogus and especially is leaks are from people connected to the club. They seem to raise themselves for the CL. These stories always do the rounds, like the one about Coutinho agreeing terms with Barca.
