The thing is, and it pains me to write this, is that a hefty percentage of Spurs fans are utter ****s.

I really don't know what people expected. If you'd offered me Keane, Defoe, Palacios, Cudicini and Chimbo (all right, maybe not him) with no significant departures at the start of the month I'd have bitten your bloody hand off.

We end the window with a vastly superior squad to that which entered it. Stop fucking whinging, you ungrateful fucksticks.

every single spurs fan know's that we need a left winger, we've been crying out for one for the last 4 years now! It looked like downing was going to be the one to solve the problem, but he didn't, spurs fans have a right to be upset by the lack of ability on our left hand side!

Who have we bought that's short-termist by the way? Three players who finished fifth with us, just about the best second-choice keeper in the league and a midfielder who may very well have gone to Manchester United in the summer if we hadn't got in there during this window.

But spending £30m on Keane and Defoe who can never play on the pitch at the same time?! I just wish there'd been some thought and strategy to our purchases, rather than panicing so much.

It's a squad game....we've also got 4 central midfielders who aren't likely to be all on the pitch at the same time.

The fact is also that modern football is very much short-term. The reality is that we need Keane because Defoe is out for the long-term, according to Redknapp.

We could just as easily sell one or both of them in 12 months time and as far as Defoe is concerned we'd probably get our money back.

Pretty much every club outside the top 4 is lacking in some department in some department or another - it's not like we don't have any left-footed players, and everyone else is fielding perfectly balanced elevens.

No matter how hard I try, I just can't envisage Downing suddenly "solving the problem" and results coming good. Things just aren't that black and white - building a football team isn't like doing a jigsaw.

As we don't have Downing, I'd love to see GDS get a go down there - but it seems Harry has other ideas. Failing that, Lennon looks like he's starting to enjoy it on that side a bit more, cutting in and creating havoc. It's not all gloom and doom, is it?

I personally didn't and don't think we need a left winger. Only Man United get away with playing with 2 out and out wingers in the Prem these days and that's because they have 2 top class midfielders and a world class back 4 playing all the time.

I thought we needed someone who could operate from the left, come inside and do a job, like we had with Tainio and Malbranque. As long as you've got a wing back who can overlap it's not much of an issue.

It does seem strange that HR bemoans the lack of balance and then tries to sell one of our 3 left footers.

I might be wrong but would not be the same said about a player you have been dying to see at the club in Arshavin and where him and Modric could fit into an already weak and flimsy spurs side?

Yes and Redknapp wants Downing and Downing wanted to come but Boro failed to play ball.

Downing will be signed in the summer whether spurs fans like it or not but why waste his budget on a left sided player then on Downing's arrival would become unwanted.

Harry has probably spoken to Levy and told him what players he wants at the club not just now but in the summer and looking at it we have managed to get most of them in this month. Downing would have been great in my opinion but we are going to have to wait a little bit longer and by then if Boro get relegated and there is a massive chance they will the club could save £6 million.

We are not in the situation we are in because of a lack of a left midfielder we are where were at because of not been able to defend set pieces and lack of concentration.

Same comment I put in the 'happy window' thread:

I wasn't happy with the idea of some of these but, let's get things in perspective, we need to stay up and we should have the players we need to do that now.

And also let's look at our squad now compared to what we had available on the final day of last season

Out Berb, Malb, Tainio, Salty, Ghaly, Robbo
In Gomes, Modric, Pav, Bentley, Corluka, GDS, Defoe, Palacios, Cudicini

Got to be happy with that until the summer

In short - NO

Defoe and Keane = 2 of the best strikers in the league

Competition = A good thing.

Having 11 good players and nothing on the bench is an awful idea so to suggest signing Keane is a bad idea because it might upset Defoe is frankly mental.

If you offered me Keano or Arshavin,Keano every day of the week, and I will fight anyone who disagrees.

We wouldn't need to be fucking panicing if it wasn't for Ramos and the mess he had gotten Tottenham into.

The worst ever start to any season by a Tottenham manager??

Redknapp has not set Tottenham back in any way shape or form.

He's the poor fucker who has to try and sort it all out. There is a shortage of good English managers i don't know why some of you on here don't go get your coaching badges and end the big fours dominance.

FFS.....just how high do Spurs fans place their expectations.

How many other clubs sitting 2 points off the bottom of the table could have pulled off the transfers that we did. We are not fighting for 5th place anymore, we are in a relegation battle.

In those circumstances, to get the players that we did was truly amazing.

Palacios - strong, physical midfielder that we desperately needed - chose to come to a club in a much worse position than where he was. Also had the option to wait until the summer and possibly go to United.

Cudicini - Not just a backup keeper, but a keeper good enough to fight for the number 1 spot....for free!!!

Chimbonda - Premiership experience. Better still, Spurs Experience. Can, and has, walk straight in and do a good job. By no means a shit player.....£3m....bargain!

Defoe - A proven premiership goalscorer. Again, has Spurs experience. Works very well with Harry. 3 goals in 4 games before the injury and was working well with Pav.

Keane - Again a proven goalscorer with recent Spurs experience. Has the leadership qualities that we need and should be a big hit in the dressing room. Gives his all when he walks out on the pitch. And we made £5m. Just a shame we got rid in the first place.

Did any of the other teams around us at the foot of the table get anywhere near the quality that we got?

Anyone who is underwhelmed by our transfer dealings this winter seriously needs their head seen to!!

two we already let go who didnt particularly get on, a keeper that has hardly played in years, a 1 year wonder at wigan! (has it even been a year)?

Palacios I am glad about even tho its too much money for him. But I still think we needed a CB much more than a frickin RB, and how many years have we needed a genuine left wing?

If you think about it, signing a RB effectively frees up a CB in Corluka.
