I completely agree with this and it's completely understandable that Ange wants a proper look at the squad before making his final decision.

But at the same time, it's not hard to understand that we've been crying out for upgrades at CB for years, both Conte and Jose wanted that.

Ange may be great but he can't polish the turd that is our central defence, even if Levy will try to roll it in glitter to mask it's true form.

Again, I can understand why we are maybe taking our time but @Trix is also suggesting that Levy is the proverbial 'old dog' and he all know that mangy mutt.
Maybe. The thing is I don't even know if Rodon is not good enough, he's barely played for us. I don't think he's strung together 2 or 3 games.

I also think this is as much about squad dynamics, and finding the right mix for morale.

These extra wins or extra value that Levy strides for maybe the kind that allows the club to sell a player for a bit less or push us over the line with another player we might like to get in.

He got deserved praise for the Maddison deal where others would have been perfectly happy to pay £60m for to just get it over the line for a pre season tour in Australia.

£5m saved here and there could add up to a new player we wouldn't otherwise be able to afford.

A very good point. I would counter that to say he's also left us short in consecutive windows and our wage/turnover ratio is the lowest in the league. When we get the players we actually need and not the back up choices and spend more on wages I'll then give Levy the benefit of the doubt that so many seem so keen to give him.

"Mental gymnastics", "denial", "cognitive bias"...all such bollocks phrases that get regularly thrown around in here.
Really grinds my gears,
You were happy to criticize the opinions of others as “small time thinking” though.

We’ll get a CB.

We’ve got a brand new GK. a brand new LB. A RB in Emerson who really improved and another Full back in Porro who’s new to the league and has potential. 1 CB is absolutely fine for this window and we have almost 7 weeks until the window closes.

The mandem are completely overreacting at this point.

Yeah, I had hope for Rodon but the fact he barely got a game at Rennes has clipped those wings.

And yes, I also think that Ange taking all of them out there is to help the squad dynamic, which is a shrewd move and probably not something Conte or Jose would have done, they'd have just cast certain people aside.

I'm really positive about Ange and his approach, which is maybe why I'm even more nervous about Levy hamstringing him from the start.

I think levy is too risk adverse, I think he means we'll but doesn't want to push the boat out.

However, I don't know if this is on levy. Neither do you.

One thing is that we do know is that ange has chosen to take 31 players to oz. He may have asked the board to wait until he has fully assessed the squad.

No one knows 🤷

We don’t even know if Ange has chosen to take them, maybe he’s been asked to?

Yes, in the context of loaning our star player out so he can go and win some trophies and then come back to us a happy little boy.

If that's not small time thinking, then I really don't know what is?!
Fuck me sideways!

We've actually got too many fullbacks. We don't need 6.

I'm certain the club want to cut the wage bill, so it wouldn't make sense to force him to take 31 players.

I'm not sure he would just tow the line, he comes across as straight talking.

Still got to pay them if they’re at hotspur way. Them being in Australia is not going to affect a transfer. Maybe if you leave them behind it weakens your position for a fee as they’re clearly not in the plans going forward. Yeah he’s straight talking but he’s got to play the game

Any takeoever isn't going to impact this windows incomings anyway. No point linking any signings to it imo. At best we might be able to offer Kane a big contract if we have a takeover coming and know we'll have the budget. Whether he would take it if promised a big summer of signings next year is another matter.

So why are you allowed to dismissively label the opinions of other, but others are not allowed to do the same?

Agreed.

It feels like it is time for spurs to change ownership. I do think we've hit a glass ceiling under enic.

Liberty media would probably be one of the better options.

Because do you really think any big club would loan out their star player so that they can go and win some stuff?!

FFS man, it's about context and some stuff just isn't realistic. That's why I can call it pie in the sky or small club mentality.

If you're not reading the context in this, that's on you. If someone's talking bollocks, it's fine to call it bollocks.
If someone has a different opinion, it's not so cool to accuse them of mental gymnastics or other such tripe.

It's a completely different scenario but if you want to think otherwise, you crack on pal.

So, you can do it because (you believe) your opinion is correct, but others shouldn’t do it because (you believe) their opinions are not correct?

Are you just trolling now?
Or do you not actually understand what I'm saying?
You've picked one time I've called something "small time mentality", when used in the context of talking about loaning our star player out, and now seem to be trying to use it to make some kind of weird point.

Seriously mate, just put me on ignore and do us all a favour. 🙄
