I cannot get excited. I really thought this was it and the board would let him have time.

2 seasons and they ditch him.

Same old same old and we will never learn.

I can only repeat what I have been saying... You are assuming AVB wanted to stay, I think he looked broken during the second half on Sunday and finished either way. It also seems that the relationship between him and his superiors has broken down, and so both sides are to blame for this.

Quite so. I hate to see any Spurs sacking. But 0-3,0-1,2-2 and 0-5 at home. Forgetting City.

don't know how old you are and how long you've been following Spurs but those humiliations weren't the first and wont be the last.....

Excited about? having one of our worst midfielders in history in charge of the club? having yet again sacked a manager after selling our biggest star.....oh wait getting excited about having BAE and Ade back in the team....

while we're at it let's get Hoddle in.....one of our most successful managers ever.....

woooo ooooohhh I'm so excited! happy times at the Lane!!!!
I vaguely remember him popping up with quite a few important goals. He never seemed popular with fans though. Compared to the rest of the shit in that team, he wasn't that bad was he? Freund made him look like a technical genius though, bless him. Loved freund btw, heart of a lion.

as a whole. Missing out on players (moutinho) etc. Levy, like always, slowly broke him down.

AVB probably did want to leave in the end. Can't say I blame him.

Guess who tooks us to achieve all that?

oh wait that's the guy genius Levy sacked yesterday!

Have you been watching the games?

I don't think it's a time to be particularly excited to be honest, there are fundamental problems deeply ingrained in the club and the squad which will take some time and pain to resolve. Just getting a new coach is not going to change everything for the better automatically.

To be frank I've decided to take a bit of a step back emotionally with Spurs. It happened at the end of last season when we yet again missed out on the Champion's League. I realised I was just done with feeling the pain of caring so much every season, and the realisation when Bale scored the winner in the final game that he would be gone either last summer or next, but that we would never hold on to him. I realised that it quite honestly wasn't healthy getting so wound up by football so regularly, even if there were a few brilliant highs before the inevitable failure every season.

Football's not the same game it was when we started this 'project', this improvement we've seen in us as a club over the last ten years or so. The Chelsea's and City's have just left me so disillusioned with the game that I find it hard to get excited these days - at the back of my mind I think I know for a fact that even if we did manage to push someone out of the top four and get ourselves back in there, we wouldn't be able to make it a long term thing. Someone would spend £250m (like Chelsea did when they finished 6th) and make sure we get pushed out again. Some ref somewhere would find some way to give Arsenal just the right amount of penalties they need to beat us to 4th on goal difference, or some Arab would buy Preston NE and spend £20 billion getting them from nowhere to the top of the PL.

I just don't think football is worth the emotional investment I used to give it, and while I'll still be just as interested in everything about the game and Spurs as before, I definitely don't and won't care as much as I used to. Much better to be a step back from it all and try and just enjoy what you can about the game instead.

Hmmmmmmm Bobbin's you will be back, you know it, I know it. You can tell yourself you will step back and try and cut the emotianal attachment buts its much easier said than done. You will be is intrested and as excited as ever on Wednesday night. Its something you cant put into words, why do people support the Bolton's and West Hams's of the world? Its not a choice you have its in you and never goes away.

Chin up.

I've found this season increasingly frustrating watching the sideways-backwards-lack-of-pace play and the confusion and concern on the players' faces that is not at all the Spurs way. Something had to change but unfortunately it wasn't AVB who stubbornly stuck to his Plan A without even having a Plan B.

I didn't dislike the guy on a personal level but I absolutely loathed his tactics and team selections in so many games. Why is it that we were all so aware of the problems when he (and his coaching team?) weren't? Generally speaking, even the pundits were saying the same things as we were so AVB couldn't possibly have failed to know about it. Sadly, he just isn't experienced enough to manage a Premiership side yet, although it may happen one day if he can be more flexible with his choices. He has a lot to learn.

So does Levy which is perhaps more frightening as he holds the purse strings and so strongly influences the direction we take and the choices we make. He has to bear much of the blame too for what has gone so wrong.

Where are the "old school" managers like Billy Nick? Has the mould been broken? I thought Harry was part of that generation and perhaps in some ways he's the closest to it - but still not the answer. Perhaps these men will never be found again in such a highly business-orientated environment where money speaks louder than sport.

The answer? We have to ask the right questions to find that and we haven't done so for some time.

I'm not a pessimist by nature and can only look forward with a lot of hope to better and more settled times.

every single one of them....

have you checked our injury list lately??

Yup I have indeed, I dont see how that effects getting drubbed 5-0 at home to Liverpool with not a single attempt on goal. Our overall play is going backwrds instead of improving, its just my opinion.

Oh I'm not going anywhere mate, and I'm not feeling down - just disillusioned with the game.

I'll still be watching on a dodgy stream on Wednesday night and I'll still be here everyday - I just won't allow myself to get quite so wound up in it all in the future, it's just not worth it.

I'll always love Spurs, but these days it's more of a grudging emotional attachment to an ex who broke up with you but you still secretly have feelings for and know you'll never quite be able to get out of your head, rather than the hot excitable lust for that tight-bummed teenager (why have I just thought of Tom Carroll?) I used to feel for the club.

I am not going to disagree that Levy must be difficult to work with at the best of times, but AVB wanted Baldini, and ended up refusing to talk to him too (We take JJ's word as gospel on here all the time, so lets not doubt it now). Has he slowly broken down AVB as well?

I think it just seems that a number of off the field factors have come into play from what we are reading/hearing, and both sides realised it wasn't working out and have decided to part. They both take the blame for this.

I will be keeping an eye on your posts in the match day thread, any side of an overly excited post or one shouting at Townsend for a shot into Row Z and I will be on it :).

I can't get excited with Daniel Levy still running the club.

We have given him countless chances time & time again and getting rid of Redknapp even though all he achieved and bringing in his man AVB and his new 'project' i accepted that, I even accepted Bale going (even though he said once again we wouldn't be selling) why? because of this project, we had a young manager with new idea's and we had just brought 7 new 'quality' players, we all knew it was going to take time, but to bin him off before Christmas shows how small time we really are.

a pathetic joke of a club, its no wonder so many teams love watching us fail.

It's that weird mix of apprehension and excitement that comes from a gamble. It could be the worst thing that has ever happened to us, or the best thing that has ever happened to us. We could slip down further mid table, or put together a few winds and be right back I'm there, maybe with a trophy.

Success is nice but what I post to see is a great game of football and the thing I'm looking forward to most is getting a manager that understands watching football is supposed to be enjoyable.

If avb was employed after substantial talks about being at the helm, overseeing a new project and new philosophy, he should have been given many years to get it kicking. We're all about the now. It's a real shame. That said; we're missing a world class player, who would have at least added some shine to what was a bit of a depressing few months. I for one would have stuck by AVB for another two years - but having it all up in the air again is a a bit exciting.

That was my thought yesterday. Today I accept there is no smoke without fire and maybe AVB has an inability to unite a dressing room. Maybe he was unrealistic in his transfer targets and maybe his stubborn nature was at fault. I don't know but clearly there was something amiss.

I am very much a glass half full guy and appreciate that we have a very talented squad of players. That said I am not able to get excited at the moment, I am gutted that the AVB experiment did not work. I feel let down by him , the players and anybody else I can blame for my overall despondency. I fear for the game tomorrow night, a loss to the West Ham at this time could be catastrophic.

Things could change quickly, a win tomorrow, a good performance at Southampton and six points at home to Stoke and WBA could see our season change dramatically for the good. I'm just not that optimistic at this moment in time.

No such thing as a project anymore, don't know why we kid ourselves when the club spreads that bullshit. I cant see us ever having a manager for more than two years at a time.

I don't know why people are so upset he's gone. He blamed everyone for his crap performances, including us. Had a stand up row with a journalist (never a good idea!). Played players in out of position and released players who we needed. And sounds like he's got a chalkboard for a voice box to boot. I'm not going to miss him much. Just hope the "Three Amigos" do alright until our next sacrifice!
