I just fucking love this guy! Proper Spurs

I’ve just loved everything that has come out of his mouth since taking over. His post match interview was fantastic.

Hes going to get stuff wrong, of course he is but I really like that he identified things and corrected them.

He also changed something with the mentality at HT.

Now compare that to Lampard who always looks like he's staring into the abyss and has no idea what to do.

And also the past 2 coaches who were reluctant to make any changes and when they did they were usually like for like or defensive

Metalhead

But that's a debate for another thread.....

I hope that whatever happens the next few games that he gets the right advice on where to go next. There's been some suggestion that he should drop to the Championship or something, but it's an absolute quagmire of a league, and if you don't get to a team that can get out of it in a couple of years, then that can be your career set as a football league manager.

If he doesn't stay with us in some capacity imo he'd be best off to be honest getting abroad to an underperforming team in a top division somewhere, and get them back to where they should be. That kind of thing seems to earn you a lot more cache. Lord knows PL clubs would rather take on a manager that did well elsewhere than promote a manager from a lower league in this country.
It wouldn't surprise me if we ended up appointing Slot that he stayed and worked with him.

Thought, much like his first stint, the first half we looked disjointed and were relying on “moments”. Had no faith we’d get anything and expected to get dicked 4 or 5 at that point. We never looked a proper team.

Second half, we looked a team. Credit to Mason for that. Whatever he did at half time worked and means he’s got more about him than I gave him credit for.

I know it won’t happen and I don’t really want it to happen I guess but there’s something really romantic about the thought of Mason, a young lad who loves this club the same as us, getting a run of results and taking the job full time. Him doing well for us, playing in a way that befits our traditions and history, is so tempting after the last 4 years.

It’s heart over head stuff, I know that. But wouldn’t it be wonderful…

Absolutely loved that presser.

Ryan's demeanour was perfect. He wasnt overly happy or friendly just sounded like he has a bee on his bonnet and professional. I have so much faith in his future

I don't think he will get the gig but him saying he wants it is no bad thing as the players know they aren't just playing for a sitting duck.

Lovely to have one of our own fighting for us.
Yes... a couple of more years as an assistant to an attacking manager and then he could take over as our manager... he has the tools for it... but now is too soon IMO.

But there is definitely more joy and energy about us already.

Credit to Ryan for the second half turnaround. We were as dominant in the last 45 as United were in the opening half. A fair result. Kudos to Forster for that save that kept it at 1-2. How Dier missed that open goal with his header I'll never know.

Let's hope we can build on that second half at Anfield.

It really felt as if the team just had a bit of freedom in that second half.

I think over 3 managers (4 if you include Stellini) the players have been coached into such a rigid form that they are simply terrified to do anything else.

It's only about 35 minutes of football to analyse and the team obviously needs more coaching than just 'run about a bit and enjoy yourselves' but it really did feel as if there was a shift in that second half from a long period of scared and negative play.

The utter lunacy of the Stellini appointment just reinforced in one game. Of course our defensive problems aren’t fixed - that’s not possible without time and an overhaul of personnel. But you can get a new manager bounce from just adding some positivity as the atmosphere has gone toxic. This isn’t hindsight - it was obvious at the time and many people said so. Levy threw away our chance of champions league football with what might be the single most baffling decision he’s ever made

People need to not get carried away. United were really leggy in the 2nd half and allowed us to play.

Love Mason’s positivity but too much overreaction online saying he should get the job.

Agree 100%. Nice to see team on front foot.

Normal hyperbole from Spurs fans. Neither as bad as the Newc result and not as good as the Man Utd result. Somewhere in between.

Has changed a number of things already to be fair got rid of contes pre match routines and staying at the lodge for home games, meal at the stadium for the game was previously at the lodge must have been things he knew the players didn’t like

This is really interesting and encouraging stuff to hear. Whilst we can't expect mason to be a tactical genius with the team, these kind of details behind the scenes can help inject some life and positivity to the players. That could help us on our way for the end of the season.
