I know we’re happy with a bit of positivity but it would be a massive mistake to appoint Mason full time no matter how we do for the rest of the season.
Hes not going to get the job full time and I dont think he should. But you cannot ever judge how good they would be in these sorts of circumstances. Without a preseason its not fair to make an fixed calls on how well someone would do. I tbh was impressed by how quickly some of his ideas were spread. Some of them didnt really work some of them really did work. It will be interesting to see how he develops as a coach for sure.

I hope that whatever happens the next few games that he gets the right advice on where to go next. There's been some suggestion that he should drop to the Championship or something, but it's an absolute quagmire of a league, and if you don't get to a team that can get out of it in a couple of years, then that can be your career set as a football league manager.

If he doesn't stay with us in some capacity imo he'd be best off to be honest getting abroad to an underperforming team in a top division somewhere, and get them back to where they should be. That kind of thing seems to earn you a lot more cache. Lord knows PL clubs would rather take on a manager that did well elsewhere than promote a manager from a lower league in this country.

Wish we would have really went for it after 2-2 and didn’t make such defensive subs. We really had nothing to lose, a draw or loss pretty much the same. Had all the momentum and we clearly switched our style to play for the draw.

In terms of it being a defensive sub, we cycled the formation to take a forward out from playing WB, so i'm not sure that it was as defensive as Tanganga > Son suggests.

I don't think that a draw or a loss after coming back from 0-2 down would have the same result for the mentality of the team where it is at the moment in the toilet to be honest. If either result means the same to the club, then better the result that has a better chance of the team building some belief and confidence, imo. If we went down to a Rashford goal on the counter, what does that do to the mental state of the players having given all of that effort to get level? Personally I think it wrecks any progress.

I thought we should have swapped son for mundle.

However, perhaps risking it, and losing 3-2 may have done more damage to the players psychology.

For probably max 2 days on the training pitch that wasn’t half bad, get liverpool out the way and hope for a more positive end to the season.
Feels good seeing a man who properly loves Tottenham in the dugout.
Yep and who wants to actually manage us and who gets the type of football our fans want to see.

Was a very good 2nd half performance but still think to early for Mason. Would like him to be a future boss but not while we are in this mess.
Anyway atleast i won't have to listen to the United fans gloating in work tomorrow 😀 COYS
Na don’t overthink it, just give it Mase and move on with our lives 😂⚽️💪

Not sure there was anything groundbreaking in what Mason did tactically but he clearly got something out of the players at half time and we haven't seen that in a long long time.

It had the real risk of getting very toxic at half time.

Credit to Mason for not feeding into that.

He did well at half time today. Have to say I thought he fucked up taking Son off for Tanganga after we equalised because we were all over them and all that did was make us sit back for the last 10 mins or so. Dangerous but luckily we didn’t concede. But when your first game is coming back from 2-0 down to draw against Man Utd then it can’t be anything but a decent day for our manager. Well done Ryan.

We should send Mason out on loan to a championship team for 4 years with no obligation to buy and the option to bring him back every time our new coaches get sacked with 10 games left.

Even though Arteta and Xavi didn't have loads of coaching experience, in my opinion, Ryan needs to cut his teeth somewhere else to have a chance of the job. Even a season in the Champ would make a tonne of difference.
Yeah I agree.

He's worked with Conte now but I very much doubt Mason shares a similar football philosophy. I'm sure he's learnt a lot but Arteta was very heavily involved when with Pep, I don't just mean in coaching I mean on the bench.

I imagine Ryan's own ideas were not really possible to be put forward strongly in the same way Arteta's were.

So for sure he needs to go somewhere to actual put them in practice and be his own man

I would be as excited as anybody to see a kid make a debut. But, quite honestly, bringing on a kid who almost certainly isnt good enough yet, to make his debut in a high pressure game in a drawing position would be a poor decision.

Even from a developmental prospective. Imagine Mundle makes a mistake? Imagine what that could do for his confidence? No your debut should be in a relaxed situation where you are allowed to get a feel for the ball, and just enjoy.
