"Where do they expect us to be - above Man Utd, Man City, Arsenal, Chelsea? We have had an amazing season - it won't get any better, enjoy it. This is good as it can get. This has been a fantastic season."

Remember that quote in 2011 and how some of us were outraged by it whilst many others were accepting of such a shallow mindset. How stupid does it look now? Granted we have not won anything as yet, neither did HR btw, but we look far more likely to now as opposed to then. All this done by having approx the same net spend.....

Choosing to remember that quote over games like the 3-2 win at the Emirates, the 1-0 win against Milan at the San Siro and of course that magical 3-1 win against Inter at the Lane is the wrong take-home message from Harry's time at Spurs, IMO.

You have to remember Harry will say anything to push his own agenda. He would argue black is white if it suited. I'm just grateful he's gone.

When you put it like that it's even easier to see why Poch is so loved. He only talks about the we, the collective, the badge, the club. He's inclusive to the extent that we feel involved. But he doesn't give much away to the media which is a breath of fresh air.

I don't think we should forget it. Pretty damned sure a lot of our rivals agreed wholeheartedly. But that doesn't mean I want to denigrate the achievements we did achieve under HR - up to that point in time they were some of the best times many of us had witnessed even though we didn't win anything.
I don't think any manager should say this about his team even if he thinks it. But since then the mighty THFC has risen far higher than HR could have dreamed & that to me shows his weakness.

We should use this to our advantage now & say "Harry, the world, do you remember this??? Yeah, well FUCK YOU all"

I can think of umpteen things that we as Spurs fans could get all Braveheart about to unite us for the forthcoming semi-final and run-in that should be higher on the priority list than saying, "fuck you" to the second best Spurs manager we've seen for at least the past 20 years.

Yeah lets all dwell on a comment someone hurried out after being baited six years ago. Makes us look so petty, small time and ungrateful.

Are we really bashing Harry here ? Jesus some of you have short memories. Harry is one of the reasons why this club are in such good shape. Yes Pochettino has put us on a new level altogether but Redknapp put Spurs back on the map with our superb CL campaign that season.

Just after I read this thread I saw this:

Birmingham City FC‏Verified account@BCFC 11m11 minutes ago

OFFICIAL: The Club is delighted to announce the appointment of Harry Redknapp as our new manager. #BCFC

And I expect he will keep them up now. When they moved GR on they were looking like a promotion pushing team, so they clearly have the players to stay in the division. What Harry is good at is making things simple and just letting the players play and I'm sure that is exactly what he will do. In this situation someone like Harry is a no brainier. The problems come when he gets a long contract, and has too much influence in the off the pitch stuff.

Some of us look at how good the players were that he (inherrited) had at his disposal, and think if anything we underachieved.

That aside my issues with Harry are not so much based on what we were doing on the pitch, but all the crap that was happening behind the scenes and in the media. As a club things were far from rosie when he left, and that generally was down to Redknapp and his never shut up attitude.

At the time it was spot on, nobody could foresee the drop off at United, City, Chelsea or Arsenal.

But captain hindsight wins out.

I don't see it as a drop off, I think the top teams have more or less stagnated and we'be improved, I wouldn't say the level back then is above what it is now IMO.

I was never sure if he meant that in regards to that season, as in it cannot happen over night. I might be wrong.

As much as I am grateful for the revival under HR, I mean, that team was pretty damn decent and I feel he was equally responsible for not capitalizing on their talents.

People wax lyrical about our current players, but I'm inclined to believe HR's team was "better" (I think our current crop will go on to outstrip them for sure), whereas now we have a better manager and team ethic and lo and behold...

Without Harry Redknapp this club would not be in the position we are in right now. Like the man or not, he pushed us to another level, in the same way Jol did, in the same way Poch is doing now. He'll always have my respect for his time at the club and we played some scintillating football at times with him as manager.

I personally think Harry arrived at spurs at the right time and left at the right time, too. Proven best by the comparable fortunes of both parties post the split.

Harry's biggest problem is his knee. He was probably never a training ground manager but he can't even stand out there for any decent length of time nowadays.

He was bitter after he left but now speaks very highly of the club and Poch. We should move on, too.

He's just got the Birmingham job-thought he was done with management.

Anyway I couldn't care less what he said 6 years ago, look how far we've come since then and just enjoy it.
