Over the years of debating us using the 'Y' word, it's perfectly clear to me, that anyone outside the club who complains about us using it has no concept of context.

I never even considered that the Yid chants helpfully weed out the racist element among us too, but it's certainly another positive. If Chelsea's a bit upmarket for you, how about West Ham? Salt of the earth good English cockneys, hate Jews, and lack class.

I don't think you can paint all East London cockneys with that brush but I get what you are saying. I lived there.

Jus feel like the Y Word argument is the least of the racism issues currently present.

I think ultimately this is what it boils down to for me. Even though we don't intend it in a racist way, some people don't think we should use the word yid, and they're obviously entitled to that opinion. But personally I think you have to do a lot of "shoehorning" to come to the conclusion that Spurs fans saying yid is racist.

As the past few weeks (and several instances last season) have made abundantly clear, there is plenty of genuine, irrefutable cases of racism in English stadiums and in the wider society, so to me it seems completely illogical and unnecessary to crowbar this yid issue into things when there's plenty of far more obvious issues to be dealing with first.

Oh you havent heard? The last thing to do before racism is solved is stopping us from singing Yid Army and yiddo. Oh, and stopping black people from going to Stamford Bridge, and the London Stadium, etc?

Everyone on the other side should be ashamed of themselves here. The only argument they have is victim blaming and that same measure can then be applied to racism. It’s absolutely fucking disgusting. In order to stop people from being anti semitic toward us, we have to stop singing yid? Really? Use your brains. Get some education. We arent causing people to be snti semites. And blacks, arabs, etc dont cause people to be racists. People are anti semites and racists because they were groomed to hate.

Very well said. (y)

I often wonder why black people and Jews don't come together on the racism issue, as both communities suffer at the hands of seriously vile racism by some knuckle dragging neanderthal morons, but I guess that's another issue.

Politically speaking, the fact that a large majority of black people vote for a party the large majority of Jewish people currently regard as anti-Semitic racists would be an issue right now.

Yes, I had a horrible feeling that might be the reason deep in my guts. This tempts me to go all political about it but I'm going to keep my powder dry for now. I know from past experience exactly how some people's political opinions can set some other people up to go utterly bonkers and irrational, so I'll just let that one go on this occasion.

Their us a strong Jewish position of anti racism and most on the left want a fair peace with the arabs for instance.
There is also a strong Jewish position that's to the right, some because of Israel and some for the economy.
Jews are split like all populations.

Probably because anti-Semitism and racism aren't the same?

Jewish liberals for sure, but that doesn't mean they're voting Labour - the Jewish Chronicle commissioned a poll the other day showing that 93% wouldn't even think of it, and most (whether generally liberal or right-wing) consider the party to be anti-semitic. And I'm saying this as someone very strongly on the left who's otherwise a huge fan of Corbynism. The most generous argument reasonably possible is that he's had a large blind spot on anti-Semitism, has been happy to associate with anti-Semites, and his handling of it has been diabolical.

I’m Irish (Dublin), a Spurs fan since 1970 and managed to be racially abused by a fellow Spurs fan at a match about three years ago!!!
