is Spurs.
Not knee jerk. Fact. No pace, no strength, cant finish, poor hold up play, poor link up play and dont work hard.

useless.
We'd have been safer spending £10m in Januray on Odemwingie, Elmander and bloody Lee Hughes FFS.

Its been obvious for a longtime - we need firepower.

we'e hidden behind Bale and VDV for much of the season.

Yes shocking defending for the goals tonight, but with a decent striker we could have won 5-3

if you combined all the strengths of the seperate strikes, he would be an amazing player.

Makes it even more frustrating that we've had two transfer windows to at least get a half decent one in...

It's not been for the want of trying. We had to pay big money, or take a gamble on someone. We tried the big money route, but we can't afford those wages.

They may have faults, but why persist with an out of form player like Defoe? Crouch had maybe his best game for us against Milan, why was he back on the bench today. I think he has to play even though he has his faults, we do play some nice football but we also like to play the ball into the box and seem to be inclined to play that way. There were numerous times today where our players went to chip it in and realised Crouch wasnt there so didnt know what to do with it next.

it should be crouch up front with either vdv or niko in support.

I honestly would not say this is a knee jerk, as someone pointed out in the matchday thread, this group of strikers have done collectively F-ALL since last January.

The striker who deserves any credit is Crouch who has been assisting and scored important goals in Europe and Man City at the end of last season.

Let's be fair and say Pav and Defoe have been in and out and injured...so fucking what.

Last year after scoring 5 goals there was talk of Barcelona wanting Defoe, I among many others on here threw up a mighty group laugh because there is NO WAY Defoe is good enough to play for a team better than us. He is a lot like Darren Bent, scores in runs doesn't do much link up work...pretty much a luxury striker for home games. We are the perfect level for Defoe at the moment, the issue is we want to move up and he will no longer be a first choice.

Our misery will be further compounded when Carroll and Suarez get fit and a few games and they will be dynamite.

No knee jerks, we've been saying it for a year, our strikers are average. Defoe is a squad player so is Pav.

(I know our defence was horrible today aswell but when you go away and create about 10 good chances you should bloody well take 1 at least)

The thing is we dont need better strikers...we just need one striker...possible two......just different strikers, because our strikers are NOT in form....and we need that right NOW!!

Up until he came back from his last injury I thought JD was a limited striker but a good squad player, I'd really love some flat track bullying now.
I just wonder how low his stock has fallen and whether anything can be salvaged he could end up in the championship with Wham or at rangers in Scotland because I really don't think he's a prem footballer any more.

defoe should get the pav treatment from now on, no starts, couple of sub appearances, only starts if he scores.

if we must play a striker then it has to be pav, lesser of the evils. crouch is fine for europe

Pav was good today, he has to be our regular starter in the PL. Surely even Harry realises this now.

Crouch has his use, particularly in the European games as defenders just don't seem to know what to do with him. However Pav and J.D. have really let themselves and the team down, big time.
I'm not in favour of bashing any player but these two appear to have no confidence whatsoever and I'd rather 'Arry gave some of the youngsters an opportunity because, quite honestly, they can't do any worse.
We lost today for many reasons but the poor finishing by these two was absolutely disgraceful

Can you imagine if we had actually sold Pav, and had Defoe as our main striker. Pav is a far superior footballer than Defoe.

The only difference between them is that Pav is bigger and stronger but they are equally as bad.

Pav is technically better, has better awareness of whats around him, more intelligent passing. As for Defoe.....
