What 30 million player would come to a feeder club who has lost their best player?

Andy Carroll back in January.

Maybe Scout is saying that we might end up paying inflated fees for players just out of a perceived desperation to sign top quality strikers. I don't know what I would prefer, our business model trashed or no top quality signings.

Although there is something appealing for younger, talented players in seeing how we develop talent and then sell that talent for big cash to the big boys. Not many clubs have that sort of effect on younger players.

Isn't that the opposite of what we're doing?

This is just typical......just typical. Every other player on the planet goes for grossly inflated prices but oh no not Spurs, our players are being quoted at disgusting prices :shake:

I mean I don't think our club does that. But look at Berbatov, Carrick...

Maybe Scout thinks that the 30m type of players might be young talents that are overpriced in the current market.

Maybe we will sign Rossi, Falcoe and Hulk in an amazing triple swoop. Keep the faith Levy will only let the rat go if he has something big lined up. Is it possible that Levy is pretending that we will keep Modric whilst he ties up his new signings and once thats done he will let the cnut go.

wouldnt it be great to sign Rossi, Vucinic and Pjanic and Modric seeing this wanting to stay and DL telling him to get lost to Chelsea for 40m.
Although i really want Modric to stay at least this season..

So what Levy means is that we'll make £90 worth of bids, get the usual knock backs when we offer £30k per week and then he can say at least we tried, hmmm ...

Unfortunately I guess my earlier post has now become relevant
Modric was our best player last season imo, I would wait a season and see how carroll develops and then sell if carroll develops well, he imo has very good passing ability imo but lacks strength to be our team just yet, he reminds of wilshere of two years ago even though he is a year younger

I would sell modric for £50+drogba, however that money would have to be reinvested on quality and not 3/4 players

Drogba would also have to come as signal of intent, to show that we are not feeder club and still mean business

I would then go for marin and a top class player

i dont understand this marin to replace modric, marins a winger

Different position, same sort of quality.

Our system's not so set in stone that if we sold Modric we'd need a direct replacement. We'd need someone clever enough with the ball to unlock teams but whether that's from the centre or from the wing it doesn't matter too much.

Losing Modric but getting in Diarra and Marin and we'd have a stronger team.
