How about a straight deal swap between Modric and Tevez. They both want to leave and would cost approx the same. Just an idea.
On the Ibra idea, please no, overrated, bigheaded, would want to leave by Christmas, no thanks.
Tevez wants to leave the country

i agree we have to be more realistic.

We never managed to sign these world class strikers we all dreamed of when we made the CL so its even less likely we will do so now.

What we can do (probably quite easily) is improve on what we have.

We're not Chelsea, Man city or man utd.... we simply don't pay the type of wages nor have the potential to win the top honours right away that these clubs do and as such we will find it very hard to sign any player already established as a world class star.

Such strikers are few and far between already and as and when they do become availble they are wanted by teams bigger than us who have more to offer them and we simply cannot compete.

It is by no means doom and gloom though, we just have to be realistic and sign according to our standing. We as a club need to take a risk on the type of players who look be be world class but are as yet less than proven and come with doubts/risks that top clubs can not afford to take.

Not only can we afford to take them, we have to take them.... the alternative is to buy someone substandard from our league where you know what you get but the potential for greatness is low (as we did with Darren Bent) so I would rather we take the risks on a Berbatov/Modric standard player, who has obvious class but the likes of Man U and Chelsea would not be sure about them just yet.... we take a risk on them now and hope in a season or two they are the £30m plus players every side in the world would want.

Ibrahimovic as everyone has already said is not a player within our range, he is already established and already on a wage we simply cannot and will not pay. he will not be signing.

The problem is we all hear rumours of us signing Llorente (a Spainsh international) Zlatan, and whichever other world class star ITK's or papers link us to and it makes us think the links of Vucinic are beneath us... when in reality, if not him, than someone in his position are the very types of signings we have to be looking at in my opinion.

Some one who has shown class and potential to be a top striker but as of yet is unproven and represents something of a gamble.

its the job of our management and scouting network to identify players like this and assess their attributes to determine how they would link up with the players already in our squad.

One thing I notice about us as a squad is, more than just needing a good striker we need the right type of striker to link everything together now. If we are going to play the same system we used with VDV off Crouch than we need a striker who can continue to bring the best out of VDV whilst also being a goal threat themselves and being able to link play and hold up as well as simply knocing down high balls.

Or if we plan to shift our formation then we need to buy strikers who suit the new formation and our current players, not just any player who looks good regardless of whether they are a round peg for our round hole.

Ref the latest itk:-

I'd settle for that if true, luka clearly wants out so let's move on and secure some top draw signings.

Yes - but.

I've yet to hear any ITK on that kind of player. It's all about the next "out of the magicians hat", VDV signings.

Harry and his team had a good look at the French League at the end of our season and were apparently unimpressed with the talent available (none better than Pav apparently).

So far the only serious link we've had to a player with potential is Osvaldo who is about 25.

We must be looking at these types of player and yet we hear nothing of them from our ITKs.

Does anyone know of any mercurial but inconsistent/unproven talent who we should be looking at?

Think what's most ridiculous about the latest ITK is that there's not even 3 £30m players in the world we could possibly attract (especially if we've just sold our only world class player).

Well, unless we pay £30m for Parker, £30m for Cahill and £30m for Downing... :-|

Leandro, Llorente, Adebayor, Downing, Rodwell, Lopez, Mata, Vucinic, Marin, Banega, Parker, Cahil - none of them carry £30m price tags.

I'm similarly dubious. Why would a football agent know a chairman's future intentions? BS.

totally agree the only 30m players we will sign will be worth 10m and we'll have overpaid... think we need to get over that and move on quickly...

That itk seems like an attempt to jump on luka's latest comments. After reading those I feel quite downbeat for the first time so really need some positive ITK. Doesnt need to be a 30m jobby just something that looks like we have some direction

Rossi, Vucinic/Llorente and Javi Martinez coming in would be about the only thing that would make me feel ok about selling Modric. They wouldn't cost £90m though.

Indeed. Scout's source is supposed to be Jerome Andersson, traditionally the main agent for Arsenal's players (so an Arsenal insider, certainly not a Tottenham one).

I would have thought he'd have any inside line, unless the 3 players are Fabrigas, van Persie and Nasri (though even then only Fabrigas would cost more than £25m)
