Hmmm but it's already cost us points (arguably)...

Its still early days though.

With the right investment we could really achieve something.

If nothing else happens we can forget CL football again for sure.

I think we really need to give it until the end of this window to criticise Levy.

After that...fill your boots.

:)

100% agree. After all the previous windows and especially after last season's january window fuck up, there just can't be any excuses this time. Stuff trying if it's unattainable, get realistic targets in to settle the squad as soon as we can. I know to dare is to do and that's wonderful but sometimes that motto has to pay off otherwise it's just an endless groundhog day of missing out.

I think you can make a strong argument it has. Even if you just look at how long it took to secure Adebayor.

The problem with the midfield was an obvious one. We all knew Modric was gone. We still have no viable replacement and just seem to be delaying the inevitable. I really do think a better play next to Sandro would make a huge difference. A lot of of our buildup play has come through Lennon/Bale and not the midfield. To me, that's the big difference. We have no true playmaker on the ball in midfield that can drive forward and create. Siggy/VdV are very similar in that they like to get the ball, dump it off, and then go and find space to fully utilize their finishing. Simply put, we desperately need a Modric replacement.

If you think signing a player was difficult, think about signing a world class player (the type we need, 2 or 3 of them) in 5 days. forget about the whole transfer window and think how difficult it is to close such a deal in 5 days. anyone still optimistic about us signing what we need?

Nail on the head cos we have spent all summer achieving pretty much nothing why does anyone think that in a week all our dreams will come true.

It won't and we just need to prepare for either average players or no one.

While we haven't done much of late, let's not forget that we did bring in Vertonghen and Siggy. Unfortunately, it happened so early that it makes it easy to forget about it (I know I'm guilty of this).

The most important thing for the immediate future (Next 24-48 hours) is to finalize the Modric deal. If Levy can get that done, he will have no excuse as to why he didn't go out and address needs, as the money is obviously freed up.

Niang scored 5 in 30Apps. Doesn't sound very good, am I missing something. Loads of time to improve I suppose
He's only 17, not a bad return for a kid at that level. I'd be keen to get him in, though alongside Damaio, not instead of. Adebayor, Damaio, Niang and Kane. Niang can/does play wide aswell as through the middle.
JJ said 'no' when asked. A flat 'no' too...
Technically, whoever it was that asked JJ, asked "are we interested, is he the main target, have we made a bid?"
JJ simply replies No, without specifying which bit, could be just 'no we haven't made a bid'...
I could just be hoping there though.
There is no way we're going to sign the 4 players we need. Unless we get some billionaire takeover I think we'll get the 1 deadline day deal. It's been the same for the past 2 years now and it's clear to everyone what we need.
I think everything hinges on Modric, once he goes, that will be a fair chunk of cash released to recruit, and Levy knows that after the Harry debacle last season, and AVB's appointment, he has to back his man financially if he wants the club to continue to mix it with the premiership elite.
Well, at least that's what I'm hoping.

I love that people are using a person's hairstyle to guess who they are...

Benny wears a different hat every game pretty much.

I think we will sign Willian and a replacement for Modric. A new keeper doesn't seem to be in AVBs thoughts and based on his quotes neither does a striker. Think two signings is realistic.

There was a picture at the Spurs Lodge the other day with same two people...didn't JJ say they weren't players, that he knew who they were but didn't feel it was his place to name them?
I think that was in reply to the two guys speaking to Sandro in the other pic.

Was just looking at Niang's wiki page and noticed his father got involved with the signing of his contract with Caen. Most likely the old african gentleman next to him in the picture (if it is him of course).
Makes sense, his dad is his agent.

If, big if, we do sign 3-4 and ship out another 3-4.. I'll eat my words..

But at the moment, if nothing major happens, and the big name ITKs were misled misguided or misinformed - then I'm done with this itk roller coaster... 3 windows (only yes, compared to u guys) and I'll be honest, damn sick of this emotional roller coaster and frankly major distraction and low productivity at work every transfer window. Will stick to "news" sources and seeing is believing when OS announces / pictures / interviews...

Lack of movement + crap result (1/6 points) (not slagging off the performance or manager tho) = straw that broke the camel's back for me!

Rant over...

That said, I'll be more than happy for more interview links of avb, players or levy... ;)

We are not signing anyone

Just face the facts!

I think the frustration is with all of us as we are back to square one again like last year where by we have got pretty much nothing out of our first two games how any of the board can justify this i will never know.

I can clearly see that it matters not to them like it does for us that we are potentially in a disaster zone as if we struggle next week and or loose again the following week we will really be in
It.

I feel a bit for avb as it looks like he has been let down as the club would rather hold on to squeeze another pound out here and there than back their manager quickly and properly, if the worse case happens say after 10-15 games and we struggle what does levy do sack him cos by then top four will have long gone.

I don't want to sound pessimistic but I'm really worried that we will be miles off top four and end up where Liverpool were last season and that would be utter shit and totally pointless in sacking Harry, it's going to be a tough season for us I trust levy has made all the right decisions cos from where I am I think he may have fucked up with his policies and maybe with avb.

Not necessarily. It will likely take any new arrivals time to settle anyway. I'm more concerned with the long term rather than the first several games of the season. It's the distraction of the transfer window that annoys me the most. It would help if it closed before the first game of the season.

As long as we get the right players in then i'll be happy. Unfortunately we need at least a creative midfielder and a striker to stand a realistic chance of competing with our rival London clubs. History shows that we don't often sign 2 top quality players at the end of the window.

Excuse my ignorance but if Modric was staying do we think he would be playing in the role Livermore has been operating? If so I don't believe we need a like for like replacement for him as Sandro and another DM alongside him would be immense. M'Villa would be the dream for sure.

my sentiment as well why sack Redknapp if you are not going to back AVB. We been here before I am going to sit in front of the tv on Friday hoping but got a feeling I am going to be depressed by end of it.
