Worst case scenario we end up with one of Cisse, Ba or Remy.

If we are willing to spend £20m on Soldado I dont see any reason way we couldnt spend £15m+ on Michu. Different player I know, but mush more fluid in a 433 switching positions. That guy ozzed every bit as much class last season as Berbatov did when at Spurs. He was so, so good. Not just goals, but general play. I'd be delighted to see him sign.

We haven't got many scouts left. Broomfield and Senior were released in the Redknapp clearout. Baldini needs time to assemble his new team. That'll probably happen after this summer's window, where I guess we're just concentrating on two senior players (CF and LF)

I'm assuming that will be the excuse from the club. Baldini didn't have time to scout out targets. All bullshit of course, he'd have an idea on players without doubt.

What makes you think Swansea will let Michu go for £15m? Laudrup has already said he's a £30m player in todays market.

What became of our links with Osvaldo? Could be a goer, decent striker, reasonable price, wants out from Baldini's old club?

Funny how things work out.
24 hours ago, everyone buzzing at Benteke signing.

Now he's not, Utd looking to take Bale and AVB linked with Barca.

The joys of Spurs fans - we gloat about finally going above arsenal and end up with egg on our face in the seasons, we gloat at Arsenal's links to players not happning out of season - now it's not looking too great for us :-D

Which is why i never fecking gloat! Seriously, people need to stop counting chickens before they hatch and in some cases prior to laying!!

Still, it's not like we won't have files on a large numbers of players, nor that AVB and Baldini (and Sherwood and scouting staff) are starting from scratch scouting players. As a club, though, I agree that we have to keep picking up youngsters in Europe, South America etc. but we've already started doing that, now it remains to be seen if we can develop them in to proper players..

One thing that stands out today is people are still wishlisting (fucks sake) with suggestions like they are mathematical equations or something. Benteke + Chadli + Villa or whatever. Jeez, we're having enough trouble getting one in let alone win doubles and trebles.

Bernard has the same agent as Paulinho, which might work in our favour.

I don't think Soldado will cost £20m. We're not buying from England remember. City just paid £22m for Jovetic and £16m for Negredo.

Also - has anyone noticed that Baldini and Soldado were at Real Madrid together (2006-7)? It sounds like Soldado was rated by Baldini and Capello, but was loaned out to Osasuna for development.

£16m for Negredo?? More like £24m.

Also Valencia already said that they don't have to sell him this season despite being in debt, so they'll be looking for something ridiculous to pursuade them to part with him.

What is trolling? Am I being likened to those little Norwegian creatures?

I think your club seriously wants to play in the Champions League but they need to find a way to fill the weak places in the team. I guess it is clear that Tottenham want a new striker who can score 20+ goals each season, hence their interest in Christian Benteke, but they have a budget to work to, which can be a good thing with more clubs becoming financially troubled.

The gamble is, do they spend what they consider to be "overpriced" for the right player or do they spend within the budget and maybe not get what they essentially wanted? My experience is that the latter currently applies to Tottenham.

£16.4m + £4m add ons apparently.

I would assume that's just posturing. It looks like they are pimping him out, rather than trying to deter interest.

I read that Baldini and Osvaldo had a major falling out at Roma towards the end of last season and a reason why he wouldn't recommend him. Not sure how true.
